I just noticed this and wanted to share it.
Well, I can't seem to copy and paste it. Anyway, there is a 1956 356 barn find on Southerbys which should go for $250K

I suppose you have to be overly descriptive when trying to sell something like this for 250K unrestored. "Independent" front suspension with "tubular" shock absorbers! Tubular? Were there ever triangular or rectangular? was the front suspension ever independent on these?
Four-wheel "hydraulic" drum brakes... as apposed to just a cable pulling a brake shoe like on a bicycle. I'm glad that was clarified.
"fully synchronized manual transmission" - This had to be noted to separate it from the model A's of the time...
"a solid example of Porsche’s most desirable early sports cars" Wasn't this a base model that, as a collector, is least desirable?
Its one of those mornings fellas. I just had to shred this!
Yeah, the hyperbole is incredible. But this is still an example of why our cars are so cool. We can drive them like we stole'em and not be concerned they're worth a half million bucks.
Now this is a magnificent piece of art. Built in the day to lure people away from the horse drawn buggy. Still retains much of the wagon / buggy mentality:
It has a hard top!
It has the "rare" hard top option.
Barn finds are still out there. I'm hearing about 1 or 2 per year in New England, and Adam Wright at Unobtanium is finding more than that. Some go for astronomical bucks, some not so much, like this one I'm delivering to a new owner this afternoon:
! Gordon !
You're delivering that one to it's owner?! Awesome. I'd love to keep in touch / updated on the progress of that one.
Oh... regarding the barn find. The HDR photos are an odd touch.
Yup, the Scirocco is now at her new home. The buyer was thrilled to find an unmolested, true Callaway screamer. After we got it unloaded (my son and me) the guy opens his side garage and there sits a mint, 1983 VW/Callaway GTI - Stage I. No wonder he wanted this car. The GTI is maybe 130 hp on a good day, the Scirocco is around 450 at full boost before the wastegate pops. He'll be doing a blog page on the restoration - And we're looking forward to it!
The real question is can that hard top be cut and stretched for a replica....
