I thought this was a reasonable price for Sunday at Scottsdale.

Interesting that they didn't comment at all about the difference in price between the two virtually identical cars.
I thought the same thing …..
I am curious to know if the seller of the 2nd was also the seller of the 1st. At $30,000, my guess is he lost some on the 2nd, especially after seller's commission. If it was the same seller, he/she made money on the two together. Gutsy speculation on his/her part.
Not the same seller.... 1st one we built and one of my dealers took it to BJ...the second car was from Vintage Speedsters AZ.

That is quite the feather in your cap.
Is this what you mean?
SOLD $33,000 — Lot 223 - 1957 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER RE-CREATION
SOLD $72,600 — Lot 1537 - 1957 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER RE-CREATION
i went to this in scottsdale. Prices were all over the place. some guys completely lost their shirts - while others made out like bandits. one guy i was talking to just bought an english car (like a triumph or something similar). nice car - fresh resto. he paid $33K, the seller had $50 in parts alone - plus he had to pay the 10% seller fee. the seller found the buyer after the auction and asked to buy the car back. Guy who just bought it said
I took a long, hard look at both of these speedsters. They were similar, but one was not as pictured (pretty sure it was lot 1537). Both looked like very nice, average builds. These were both brand new.
only material difference i could see was Lot #1537 had an umbrella e-brake on the left-hand side of the column.
Man - what a gong-show that event was! Lots of dads bringing their daughters (that had all kinds of bolt-on enhancements)
Beautiful city!
These cars look identically spec'd. Wow.
Uh, Mango, I don't believe they were their daughters.

i'm sure they just wanted to talk cars
Guys, guys...concentrate. We now know that the market price of the umbrella handle e-brake conversion is <checks notes> $39,600.
The market has spoken.

I left there one year thinking, "How many divorces will result from wives seeing their husbands on television with their "daughters"?"

Or luggage racks will devalue your car?
