Soon my 2270cc Raby T4 will arrive with the BAS exhaust system. My plan is to fill up the rear wheel wells of my flareside with some wide tires. The big question for those who may have the combination is ...How much clearance do you have between the mufflers and the inside side wall of the tire? If any one has some pictures I sure would be grateful.

Bob, I couldn't find 'Bobs VS' in our file section. I wanted to have another look at your engine/exhaust set up. I too will be utilizing one muffler, but it will be Tangerine Racing's creation.

Some time back you asked me about the tranny for my new engine endeavor. I've decided to have Jake build it to match the engine, so it'll be a 4 speed VW-based box with gears to provide me lots of oommpphhhh.

I just started to do some work on getting my BAS Exhaust installed now that I have my body on the pan.

I'm going to have to do a little modification of things to get it to fit. The BAS mufflers hit the rear body frame. One alternative is to let the mufflers lie a little flatter, but in my case I think it will interfer with the tires. So I decided to do a little cutting and modification to the rear body frame.

One picture is below, but I have a bunch more on my build site.

Joe, did you get your engine and exhaust in yet? Did you have any problems.

Even with the modifications I'm doing I will still need to have someone do a little bending to the stock BAS exhaust tubes that run down and under the transmission.

Chris, I'm not even close to putting the motor in. My body frame and pan is now permanentlt welded together. I have tied everything together to add strength , eliminate wheel hop, and eliminate body flex. The car is solid as a rock. It even has a crash cage behind the rear seat for a rear collision. Hope it never happens.
Is it possible to flip the muffler 180 degrees? Make the inlet at the top. The other option is to raise the side frame rails a few inches. You would have to step the sheet metal for the engine tin sheet metal. I keep you posted if I come up with something. I have lots of body work to complete. I hate stress cracks!!!!
I dont think having the muffler straight up (90 deg) will work. Yes, from the pictures it does look like there are two square tubes welded together, but that is just at the front.

The square tube I cut into needs to be out where it is so that the engine compartment is large enough to get the engine in from the bottom.
