I ran an ad sometime back in a specialty rag and maybe it just hit the newstands, but I got a flurry of inquiries about Butch. Some of the questions were normal car-guy questions so a cut and paste out our forums and other responses I have sent out worked just fine and to the point.

Some other questions came about and picqued me writing this morning... when we buy a replica some of us have obtained nirvana. Done. Many of us live with the experience and then start tweaking here and there. I fall into the second category and Butch is my result.

Once Butch hops on the transporter and heads out a new owner's vision comes to life.

As an example, if the new owner should want to reestablish Butch's Sunday drive characteristics, the stock bumpers are a forty minute effort to reinstall. A set of $100 chromies and another $100 for baby moons and a generic luggage rack and Violins, it's done!

The scoops and stripes and racing logos would require some sanding and hole filling, but on our cars, a walk in the park.

A damp cloth and a few hours under the hood and the ode to the past will be history itself.

It's OK. We all have our own visions. Those visions can change. Replicars are such a great way to play expressionist even when it's only when the Mrs. sends us to the grocery store for milk and eggs...

Paul, Your car is far from the mainstream, replica or "real car". I was going to say original, but Butch puts meaning in the word "original". I love Butch's originality. Butch is not for the weak or the easily intimidated by others owner although it could be with a bit of work.

As you, Paul, and many of the members on this board know, I have traveled many miles with you and Butch (I just added it up, about 8000 miles) and talked to many people while traveling. Butch has always been a hit and a conversation starter, even with the owners of the "real" cars we have met on the road.

Butch is truly an "original" and it would be a shame (in my opinion) to change to much. Especially that well done trunk area, what a show stopper!

Damn, Butch is QUICK, REAL QUICK too.

You are right though, most of the "originality" could be changed with little work.

Someone please tell me if this could fit on a cmc with a little tweaking??
Well Od; it looks like it was meant for a steel bodied car. You might still try it but it's still a risk. I've heard that even decklids from different replica manufacturers won't interchange. FWIW I heard that Kirk at VS offers that same decklid style but in fiberglass; that might be worth a try.
