BaT offered VM Speedster at 52K with 4 days left. A basic build. Time to change my value insurance.

WOW! What a beautiful car. That price...who woulda thunk?
An eye-catching moment on Sunday when the high bid went up by $23,000 in one step. Way to shake off some unserious bidders.
Correction: not a basic build, all kinds of great extras.
Current bid of $52k is still less than cost to buy new. This is a beauty.
In process of listing mine..
BAT is about 6 weeks behind currently
I'm giving in.
Good opportunity to get into a fully restored 912
Wow. $68.5k plus BAT fee.
Yikes, makes you think about selling.
I don’t care! No giving mine up!
It was a great build. Lots of options on that car including the 2332 engine, leather interior, GT bumpers, Rudge wheels, Independent Rear Suspension, vintage short throw shifter and more! Greg and the team at Vintage Motor Cars are building incredible replicas.
I believe those are “Rudge” hubcaps, you can get a set of real ones for about the price of our cars. Yikes.
In speaking with Mark at Hubbard Auto Center, I think those are wheels and were a $5k option on that Speedster build.
I stand corrected the Rudge style hubcaps I saw in Greg’s office and asked him about must be something else. 5K for Rudge style wheels and the splined hubs sounds like a bargain. Real period Rudge wheels complete have been going in the 40K range when available.
European Collectibles has a set of Rudge wheels for sale for $49500.00.
EC has a set of Italian Rudge repos including the splined drums for $14500.00.
9,700€ for steel, 19,580€ for original steel/alu from

As I posted elsewhere, worth it on a $300,000 Speedster. On a $50K replica, not so much.
Last time I saw an original set of wheels/drums the auction was at $25K. I have no idea if they sold or not. They were also 300SL wheels.

No idea if these are still available.

For real Rudge rims you will have to go back to drums. The hubcaps that Greg had were cool, if your interested give him a call.
