the more CCA is not a problem. usually they just mean a bigger battery, however with gel cell batteries and those tiny race batteries - there are many options.

I persaonlly will be going with a small race battery that will not be mounted in the trunk.

One potential problem could be your battery contacts. Check the battery - if it's good and holds a charge, clean all your main connections. Also put on a few dabs of dielectric grease to mitigate corrosion.
like i mentioned - i plan to not put it in my trunk, but to correct the added weight issue on these light weight cars, i am toying with the idea of adding some heavy plate steel between the bumper mounts and under the "spare tire" holder. lower centre of gravity and more weight than a battery will ever offer.
Bruce, I've got an Optima with a red top on the case. I've never had a problem with it. I was able to count on it reliably when I was having generator problems in July.
Good warranty, too. Battery is about the size of the Interstate battery I took out. That Interstate worked fine for me back when the car was in its original form, but I wanted an upgrade when I was done with all the cutting and such. If I remember right, the Optima cost about $135.00.
