What have others done similar to a dead pedal to the area where your left foot sits so it stops rubbing the carpet raw? I noticed getting in and out is also an issue for that piece of carpet as it is where my damn foot goes everytIme. I am as careful as possible, but is there something that can go over that piece that people are using.

Oh and joe f your ride is looking really really nice.
My JPS speedster came with a strip of plastic glued on that area of the carpet.
For a dead pedal I used a cast aluminum pedal face and mounted it to the ledge with an L bracket. Simple and cheap.
I have an extra pedal face if you want it.
The Beck cars are shaped a bit differently there, and the that area works fine as a foot rest even without the pedal. The only problem is that the carpet gets dirty over time. I like what Carey did on Joe's car, and may have a little chat with him at Carlisle.
If you want to be cheap, consider a piece of rubber, perhaps from a floor mat, that matches your carpet color and is held down with velcro. You could also get a piece of matching carpet and have an edge put on it. The velcro idea works for that, too. When it wears out, make another one. Wonderful stuff, velcro.
A dead pedal is on my to-do list this Spring. Very useful on long trips.
Here is the one that Carey did for me when he was building my car. I think it was his first. He mounted a VW accelerator pedal to a custom bracket.
