We built one of the Beck "deluxe" kits at the Carlisle show in 2006 for Lane Anderson (his current Speedster).

We worked from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday of the show.

We had 4 people per shift and a shift lasted 2 hours - 4 shifts per day.

We started with a delivered kit on Friday.

At 5pm (4:30, actually) on Saturday, Lane Anderson drove his newly assembled Speedster around the show field.

IMHO, if you bought a Beck Deluxe kit and worked on it whenever you could (a few hours here and there), you will be driving it in 4 - 8 weekends, depending on how much time you can give it.

They are that thought out, that complete and that good.

You're more than welcome to talk with Lane about how he likes his car.

You're more than welcome to talk with me about building one of Special Edition's kits. (or Chris Nichols, Bill Drayer, Joe Soltis, Greg Billesbach, John Hallstrand, and maybe a dozen others......)

Yup, I'm always willing to talk about my car. It's evolved a bit since it was completed in '06, but that's part of the fun. The Beck kit is the easiest way to do enough of it yourself and still have a good shot at an early success.

Check out http://www.theta.net/~nichols/speedster/carlisle06/index.html. This is pretty much the complete process. There are other pictures in there that are not of my car, but the build was completely captured. Feel free to PM me for a phone number if you want to discuss.
