That's reverse. Normal VW and 356 shift pattern.
I'm located in Phoenix and the car is in Houston
It appears to have the original tires. I'm just going to ship it and then I'll have the time and opportunity to enjoy the car at my pace. When adding up airfare, gasoline and hotel, I wouldn't be saving much by driving the car home myself.
Smart. You need to replace the tires before any long distance is driven.
Ask Troy for a referral. I used his broker when I bought mine. It was a smooth transaction.

DOH! I didn't look at it very well, did I?
Hey, @chines1! I'm so jazzed about Paul getting his ride that I'll answer for him -- he's located near me in Phoenix. (By the way, I'm the very happy owner of Beck Speedster #319, which I purchased a few months ago... Your parts boys have already helped me out with a few bits that I needed.)
Thanks for building such a great car!
Smart choice PaulEllis to make the safe decision. I adventurously drove my new buy home 800 miles, had an amazing experience I'll never forget (almost no brakes, typical one candle power Speedster headlights, darkness, no windows, coastal child and fog, desert mid-afternoon heat, L.A. traffic, etc), but was just dumb-stupid-lucky I made it home to Phoenix in one piece. Can't wait to see you and your car in person!! My next one will be a Beck .... can't believe Carey is there (well, here) for you
Yeah, pretty excited to get my hands on her. I just noticed from the pictures that the battery is in the engine compartment. Is that the norm for a Beck?
Yup. I replaced my original lead-acid battery with an much smaller Odyssey gel-cell. Frees up space, saves weight, and can be put just about anywhere. I left mine in the normal Beck spot.
Thanks for the reply. I had seen so many in the front of the car that I thought that was the norm. It must get hot in the engine compartment.
Probably less so than in a modern car. The Odyssey has been in there for eight years now.
I was informed yesterday that my car will be picked up in Texas tomorrow or Friday and I'll receive it next Tuesday or Wednesday. . The dealer will take some cell phone video of them loading the car and send it to me. I am as excited as an 8 year old the night before Christmas.
Oh yes, we all know that feeling.
