I haven't owned my Beck for a few years now, however, in cleaning out the garage recently I found the old deck lid I originally got from Carey Hines. I think I spent around $400 for it but will take $200 plus shipping. It won't fit anything else without modification. This will bolt right up to your Beck. I have the grill for it and will include it in the deal.

Rich - Online estimates are $57 for UPS and $27 for USPS. I am estimating size and weight. I will get it packaged tomorrow and get a better estimate.

56Speedster - I have no idea what the CMC brackets look like. As you can see in the photo, there are four holes for the Beck brackets. I am not sure what you would have to do, nor do I know if the decklid opening is the same size. You would more than likely have to do some shaping to make it fit right. If still interested, I can get some measurements. Click on dubstub and get my email address.

No worries guys, I understand the pocket book is thin after the holdiays. Rich, apparently I do not see dialogue messages. I have a banner that says my web browser doesn't support the software that I am running, Explorer 9. Theron was going to check into this, but with my lack of participation here, I didn't follow up.

Warren,

I received the deck lid today and could not be happier! Very well packaged and arrived in perfect shape but the best part is that it fits my CMC Speedster like a glove. I was concerned that the contour wouldn't match but it is a perfect match and the seam around the edge is a perfect 1/8 inch. The only thing I had to do to get the brackets to line up was to move my hinge part to the outboard side of the bracket to the inboard side. I wish all modifications could be this easy.

Now all I need to do is paint it, get my trans back from the builder, finish the installation of the super squish pistons and water-to-air intercooler setup and get this thing back on the road!

Thanks so much for the deal! Had I bought this from you on eBay, you would get at LEAST 5 BIG STARS!

Thanks again!

Will do. I made a new firewall out of 20 gauge stainless and decided to make new brackets to mount to it for the deck lid as well. Figured while I'm at it I might as well add the gas prop modification to open the lid. Installed it today but the prop is too strong (30#). It opens perfectly but when closed, it pushes up on the deck lid at bit so I will try a 10# and 15# prop to see how they perform.

I finally got around to painting the louvered deck lid and buffed, polished and reinstalled it today. I ended up using a 13 inch, 45 psi gas strut mounted at the passenger side hinge. I tried a 30 pound as well but it wouldn't lift it up. It would hold it up but the 45 pounder opens it up nicely. I could have used 2 30 pounders but I don't have room on the driver's side to install it due to my recent upgrades to my turbo system that include a water-to-air intercooler. I plan to make a thread to show what I've done.

At any rate, if I posted this correctly, here are pics of the louvered lid, non-louvered lid and gas strut installed on the car.

Is this no longer a problem because of the changed angle of the shorter 13" strut?

Yes sir. The new angle does not affect the closed lid and works like a charm. I saw this installation on Mango Smoothies ride and decided to try it myself. His setup uses 2 struts but I have no clue what length (would assume the same) or strength.

They are open louvers so they do add to the venting and with the big turbocharger under the lid, I can use all of the venting I can get. To see the open louvers, see dubstubs picture in the first post above when the lid was still silver.

With the installation of the charge cooler and super squish pistons, I'm planning on pushing in excess of 20psi boost so the cooler it is under there, the better.

Thanks for all of the compliments. It definitely took me longer to get my car back on the road than I had expected. It went down in November when I lost 3rd gear and barely hit the road again yesterday. Painting the deck lid took less than 2 hours from start to finish because I received it in great condition from Warren. Wetsanding, buffing and polishing took another hour and really wouldn't have been necessary if I could paint like the pros do. Luckily I can wetsand, buff and polish which gives me that show car finish.

I'll get the engine good and warm this afternoon and hit my favorite long hill to get the rings seated. Afterwards (probably tomorrow) I'm planning on hooking up the laptop and hitting a few isolated roads to do some datalogging and tuning. There shouldn't be many if any adjustments that need to be made since the only upgrade I made inside the engine was adding the super squish pistons but since I raised the compression from 8.6 to 9.2:1, I want to make sure that the air fuel ratio and timing are still in check and since I removed the intake and reinstalled it, I'll also need to recalibrate the throttle position sensor. I will most likely let the TunerStudio software do the tuning while I drive and then compare the tune to my most recent one and make any necessary changes.

As the weather is getting nice here, this will become my daily driver until some time in November.

Jimmy
