I wish I had a good close-up of the furrels, but mine look like the end of a Big diameter brake line with a flare in it so it has a collar to fit against the door trim bar. I would suggest steel, instead of the aluminium I have, as they tend to score slightly on the inside and then make it hard to get the pins in and out.

My pins are pieces of stainless steel rod, bent to the angle I wanted and then threaded on the end through the side window (see below) They work well (I stole the idea from Ola Miltrop on here - Thanks Ola!)

All the Speedsters I've seen use a couple of "pins" to mount the side curtains to the upper door trim. They just slip into furrels. (Check out the CMC build manuals online here). There are no snaps or zippers. They are not by any means weather tight. Remember I had friend in college with a TR3 and on trips home from southern VA to NJ we would duct tape the side curtain shut once he was in for his winter trips home. He claimed he got more heat from the transmission than the engine and one time when it was raining outside --- it was snow inside!
