Up for sale is a 2005 Beck Speedster with less than 9K miles since it was built in 2005. This car is fully loaded and has a 2110 cc engine and rated at 140hp!

Here's the list of Speedsters' options :

CB Performance 2110cc Engine by Pat Downs (147 ft lbs of torque) - more info available on engine, please message me for it.

Rancho Performance 4 spd transmission - Pro Spider Swing axle (310x195x126x.89)

Wide 5 Front Disc Brakes

4 - like new Pirelli tires 185/65/15 - less than 200 miles on them

Dual 44 IDF Weber Carb Kit

Tan Leather interior, tan canvas top

Bought last year:

Rebel Wiring with labels every 6 inches, yes the whole car!

Vintage Speed short shifter, my favorite purchase and worth every penny.

New turn signal arm and 4 way headlight switch on dash

Replaced the 4 to 5 lug adapters on the rear with wide 5 drums

New K&N filters

Speed hut custom gauges to match vintage style, GPS

This speedster is registered in CA as a specialty vehicle and will not require smog ever, what a pain but it was worth it.

This speedster is a great driver and wouldn't be leaving our family but I have a new school loan to pay off and I can't justify the expense. Some day when my three kids are out of the house I will be buying another Beck. As you can see this car has been babied and had so many issues resolved and drives straight and dependable. The engine has an electric fuel pump that helps it start the first time and the engine is plenty fast for a 1800 lb. fiberglass car. I went from a vintage speedster with a 1910cc (which felt like a old 1600 because of the baby webers 34s) to this 2110cc with 44s and it was night and day.

Let me know if you have any questions and this is a great used Beck for the price. I can't take less than $26,000, with all the repairs last year I'm in it around 30K. So if you know of anyone looking for a great speedster please share this link!

More pictures on the way, the last two are from last year. I put hand made rubber mats that are held by velcro to have a more rugged flooring and to be like the original speedsters. But it can be removed very easier without damage to the carpet.

Thanks

Trevor

Here are some more pictures.

Forgot to mention the A-1 sidewinder exhaust that sounds great and I have a quad gauge from speedhut that matches the speedometer and RPM gauges. I haven't replaced them because the fuel gauge works fine it would be to just add better temp, oil pressure, electrical, and fuel monitoring. Also the leather rear pad/seat made by Kevin or his workers at Beck speedsters.

Good question, I noticed a couple of grounding wires to the body and no proper grounding strap. I bought it with non working turn signals and thought he messed up the wires in the column or under the dash. I was wrong. Also several wires were the same color under the dash or under the car, so instead of tracing every wire and to make sure the electrical was correct I installed the rebel wiring harness. That wasn't difficult, just time consuming and the labeling every foot or so is awesome when you are under the car! No electrical issues now and all components work correctly.

No water damage or rust. I will get some pictures to show the clean underside, I just have to put it up on jack stands.

Trust me, I get the notion of not wanting to run down a wiring problem.

Right now, with my car  - all the lights and signals work great, so long as the headlights aren't on. When I turn on the headlights, the right brake light won't work but the front turn signal lights up when I hit the brakes.  (no joke)

Well that's spooky.  I solved my similar weird issues, replacing the flasher and rely. I bought a mechanical flasher, so that I have some chance of hearing the flasher functioning. Both from Pep Boys, cheap!.

I love it compared to the stock Vintage Speedster I had before this Beck. Today I was paying more attention to the MPH in each gear and it was something like this: 1st from 0-20 mph, 2nd 20-40 mph, 3rd 40-60 mph, 4th 60-80 mph.

I know in the vintage speedster, it felt like I had shift from 1st to 2nd almost immediately so this is way better.

Hella lights can be either, I put them on their own pull switch next to the 4 way driving light switch. I like using them at night but I do wish they were all chrome. The original owner wired them to come on with the high beams, so my way gives me more flexibility.

No worries, I can talk speedsters all day.

The receipt from Rancho Performance Transaxles states 388 R.P., so I'm assuming 3.88.

When I called them last year to confirm the transaxle, their sales person stated that this would replicate a real 356 better. I haven't driven a $200k speedster so I can't say that he's right, but it's sure fun.

It is much closer to what came in real Speedsters for normal street driving. Of course, Porsche also had a bunch of different ratios for "purpose built" cars. The short 1st gear VW uses is good for a small engine car and it does that very well, but as soon as you bump up hp/torque significantly it becomes rather limiting, but (as you know) custom 1-2 mainshafts (and the matching gears) are EXPENSIVE! Mind you, if you can't afford a 5 speed and can stay away from the stoplight dragrace thing it's probably money well spent.

Speedster is being being auctioned online but has a reserve. Anyone want to comment on the market value for my Speedster?

Here is a video I made with the help of my 10 year old daughter, I might need to get a better one made if the Speedster doesn't sell. I was hoping to show how I can beat many SUV's and minivans, but my short rider was having difficulty holding the camera/phone!

Let me know what you guys think should be a fair price. Thanks

That was a nice car! That transaxle was $3000 alone. I almost went that route but Henry at IM stopped me and said to use a 3:44 in my calculations and then compare. My first and second are not as high as I would like them to be but it was $600 vs $3000. I took the basic freeway flyer, had a 3:44 R&P put in it and replaced the .82 fourth with the stock .89 and I have way better feeling shifts for my engine.
