A friend of mine has asked me to look at this one and tell him if I think it's worth it.  It's a silver Speedster with a chocolate brown interior and A/C.  It has a buy it now price of 32k.  I don't know that much about Becks.  It this thing worth it?  Seems to me you could get a brand-new Vintage for about the same money or maybe a little less. Any thoughts?  Thanks-

Chuck

This is a similar to my purchase last May, sans ebay. My car was back at Special Edition on consignment with 1400 miles. I feel like I got a great deal compared to a new Beck and if you go on their site and price this out it would top 40k no problem. Give Kevin Hines a call and get the specifics and if possible take a trip and check it out in person. You can also PM (dialog) me directly if you want.

Yup, that's a good deal given the extra equipment on that car.  While it doesn't have the removable hardtop that I though I read into the original post, the removable soft top is an interesting option.  With A/C and the other options, that's a $35-40k car.

Oh yeah, in person that GT Silver/chocolate is spectacular.  They had one in that combination at Carlisle a few years back.  Yowza!

Weather permitting, I will be in Bremen on Thursday to pick up my car after a winter of upgrades.  Right now, it's in the 50's, but a front is coming through and it's just on the edge of rain and snow.  If there is snow or fresh salt, I will postpone my trip to Wednesday the 20th and try again.  While I'm there, I would be happy to ask any questions, take any photos, and report back with an eyewitness account.

Would you rather have an IM with a Type I or a Beck with a Suby?  I'd take the Beck.

BUt an IM with a Suby?  Nirvanna, but at a price.

I love my car but if Beck ever did a coupe with a Suby?  I'd seriously consider springing for that puppy!

I'd take the IM with the Type 1 (just to keep things balanced here).

Becks are basically trouble free and don't need any sorting out when ordering. As per my and other members' experiences, cars by JPS and VS need sorting out even when ordering new. Becks and Intermeccaniccas are basically perfect and trouble free. This, of course, is directly related to the prices you pay so the scale would be, from the bottom up: Fiberfab/CMC kits, VS/JPS, Beck and Intermeccanicca.

You forgot new reincarnated CCR. Formerly Thunder Ranch.

I had this board help me spec out my car with Special Edition before it was built.  Since then, I've had it back twice for upgrades.  Marty was probably one of the most educated Speedster owners when he spec'd out his IM and I bet he has already made some tweaks.  You drive them, you learn what you like, and you make changes.  You should go into it with the expectation that there will a few bumps and you will make a few changes.  You'll be much happier.

Hold on now.

Henry called my car the '...top of the line IM Speedster'...built with the best of the best...no Intermeccanica Speedster captures the essence of the Speedster spirit better'.

So there!

Seriously, Ruby is one beautiful car, made the more special because of Jim.

Well, today's Natalie pickup has been scrubbed due to weather.  Not much snow, but the salt trucks are out doing there thing.  As it turns out, it's a good thing, my added oil temp sensor has never worked and Carey can't get it to work, so I'm swapping it out for a CHT.  That way, I'll have the stock oil temp and a CHT.  I'll be there next Wednesday and plan to check out Tom & Joe's car while there....hopefully, unless weather thwarts me again.

All I know is that as soon as it's possible to get my car home without slidng off in a ditch or bathing it in salt water, it's coming home.  Then it will be in my garage so when the weather does break for a little while I will be able to drive it.  On Sunday, it was 63 here and I would have been out driving.  With that being said, there's no guarantee that next Wednesday will even work.  We'll see. I will give props to Amtrak, however.  I used their automated system to change my train reservation and it worked perfectly.  I never even had to repeat myself and there was no charge to change my pricey $30 ticket.

Sigh and Tesla was interested in hiring me, but I turned them away.
