Thanks for getting back, didn't realize I could purchase direct from Beck. Somehow I got routed to Boulder speedters through Special edition.Has anyone bought direct from Beck. I'm confused, Beck (Special addition)forwarded me to Boulder Speedsters. Evidently west of mississippi is their dealer. So again I'm confused!!! So if anyone has bought a Beck west of mississippi please advise. By the way I live in Washington north of Seattle about 1 1/2 hour. I KNOW, I KNOW,Intermeccanica is only 1 hour away. This distance equates to a 15,000 difference in car price.
Hey, check out exclusive-motors.com out of Charlotte NC (east of Mississippi). They have a beautiful metallic forest-green Beck which I have test-driven. It's selling for $23,000. Super nice car with about 700 miles on it. It's on their website. Shipping would be about $1,400. When you call, ask for Stan Pendergraft. He's a great guy.
John Legate has a beautiful Vintage too.
Michel,

Sorry for any confusion, I do things a little differently than the others. I routed you to Boulder. They handle the west coast for me. (I have several dealers and resellers throughout the US) You won't be paying a markup through the dealers. We have "level" pricing across the board. Once you get a quote, feel free to send it to me to look at, if that would help. You are also welcome to contact me directly with any questions. I am away from e-mail until Tuesday morning, but will probably check in here if the wife allows :)

Chamonix Industria e Comercio, Ltda. is the manufacturer of the Chamonix Spyder, Spyder S and Speedster.

The Speedster is the Beck Speedster - made by Chamonix and marketed by Special Edition, Inc. and their dealer network. The company is run by Carey Hines out of Bremen, IN.

Marketing rights for the Spyder, and Spyder S product made by Chamonix has recently been transferred to Special Edition, Inc. as well. Some of their dealer network will likely take on this product.

Thank you Steven, my son, Carey is very serious about his (ever expanding) role in this family business, now 24 years in existence. I have taken him to the factory in Brazil, and he is working closely with both Newton Masteguin and the engineering staff to constantly improve the product line.

It is largely through his efforts that we are re-introducing one of our 1980's projects, the Super 90 Cabriolet, 1964 356C model that we once made under the name ENVEMO (ENgineering of VEhicles and MOtors), almost 20 years ago!

I appreciate your post as to his level of commitment to customer/prospective customer satisfaction.

Kevin Hines
Unfortunately the ENVEMO Coupe molds and tooling was left to deteriorate. This is not to say that it won't be retooled later on, but it will likely be quite a while, perhaps several years.

It was my favorite replica of all time. I owned, at one time or the other, virtually every one of these that came here. Most until someone took delivery, or bought the "demo" so to speak.

I still long to find the Ice Green metallic one that was last seen in Louisina. It was a peach.

Thanks for the memories.

I have been researching Beck Speedsters thrugh Private E-mails to owners and dealings with Boulder speedsters and have received rave reviews for both. I know have a dilema about power. Water cooled Subaru or tradditional type 1.This Subaru makes sense but wipes out tradditional looks. If anyone has gone through this please let me know your thoughts.I have also heard that Beck Specialty Edition has gone to much care as to improve these cars (Small stuff that equates to top quality and details.I spoke to Berney Bergmann yesterday regarding one of his 2110cc motors with 911 fan shroud etc. Those bad boys are not cheap but do they look awsome and he a a lot of good things to say about Boulder speedsters.So..To water or not to water that is the question?
We are currently driving the first of the NEW Super 90 Cabrio's for testing purposes. It is more than a prototype, but there are still some minor trim pieces to be sorted out.

As this will be the "flagship" if you will for the Chamonix line-up of product, we are moving ahead very purposefully. One step at a time.

We will have a release of photo's and specs within the next couple of months, with the first units being available by March or April here in the USA. Production will be very limited (as it is an enormous amount of work).

We will try to keep everyone informed.

Thanks

Kevin
Special Edition
Michel, I just odered one from Boulder and will keep you informed on how it goes, so far so good, I too have heard nothing but good, except from on other poster on here, who did have some trouble with the delivery of his car, but had nothing bad to say about the car. My car is going to have the Bergman 2332 with 911 shroud, so can let you know about that also, suppose to be done in the next two weeks, will keep you informed.

Jerry
Hi Jerry,

Kevin Hines from Special Edition, Inc. here.

Distributor for Beck Speedsters in USA. Glad to hear that you have decided on a Beck. Luke is an authorized dealer for our product and has an excellent reputation for quality customer service.

We have had some minor delays in the past, and with the hurricanes ravaging the US ports of Entry it has become a bit of a challenge to keep on schedule.

Where are you located?

Tell me a bit about what you decided on, options, etc. if you don't mind a little market research participation.

Thanks

Kevin Hines
Kevin, so far so good in the customer relations department, was told by Eric that the chassis is in boulder and they hope to start on the car next wednesday, color is Merlot/Tan, went with Bergman 2332 engine, with 911 shroud, pro street trans, duel webers, added heater and radio, plus changed the side mirrors a bit.

I live in Cent. Washington State, but am going to pick the car up in Boulder, and drive it to Phoenix for the winter. Should be alot of fun there. I do have concerns about driving a new speedsters 900 miles right off the get go, but courious what you think??

Also curious if there is any other options for front suspension, or are you very comfortable with what comes standard?

Jerry, I myself live on the coast of washington,Bellingham.2332 WOW! thats's a lot of motor. If you live in San Diego carburation is great but when it get's cold carburetors have flat spots IMO so I,m researching EFI and wondering why more people don't use this system? But like I have said before I hve been out of the type1 game for quite some time.Carey hines and Eric from BSC seem to be doing quite an impressive job with these cars. Thanks for getting back to me on my request for feedback.
Jerry. My only advice would be to add an extra day, maybe two into your trip. Take it for a break-in/shake down. I'll bet it's already primed for you, but the extra 200-400 miles will get you familiar with the handling, brakes, and maybe an opportunity to do an oil change & valve lash adj with the builder/seller for grins.

Good luck, and have fun with that 2332.

Jim
Thanks for the advice Jim, was thinking about that myself, alot will have to do with the weather in Denver the end of Oct. But thought I would drive it some there first, just to check for problems, before heading over the Rockies. Have built alot of Chevy engines, but this is my first time with a VW type engine, the more I can learn the better I am sure.
Thank you for your answer.

I agree with these other gentlemen, it would be wise to spend a day close to Denver/Boulder just to shake out the bugs.

I am pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the customer care from Eric and Luke. I expected that it was excellent, as we often hear good things about their efforts.

Thanks again,

Kevin
