Hi everybody,

I am new here and i am looking for some info concerning the 550 replica. I am obsessed by the Beck version and would like to know if anyone here did import one to Canada. I know there's the 15+ year old rule to respect. Is there any other things should I know before Importing it? Also how much a 1997 or older Beck in mint conditions with very low mileage could cost?

Thanks for all answers...

Hello..."realspyderman" ...yes you must respect the 15 year old build rule and also if importing from the US, it must have very solid documentation/ title etc.

This info must be surrendered to your chosen US/Canada border location on the US side 72 hours before bringing the vehicle over. The US side is very particular...have your stuff in order. If you do have it in order...no sweat. The Canuck side is a joke. Have your US stuff in order and all they want to do is take your tax money on the Canadian side.

Not much joking aside...when a Canuck goes into the states, the border guard has his hand near a gun and wants to know who you are...when you return, the Canadian guard has his hand on the cash register and wants to know how much he tax he can charge you for what you bought down there.

He's "been around the block" with this. Plus, heck of a nice guy to talk to!

Mark Greenberg by-and-large built his own car in Canada with parts imported from the U.S. IIRC, Mark was recently in China. He lives in B.C., but was living in Calgary for a while. I don't know if he has returned to the U.S. or not. Super guy, BTW.

You can probably contact him via a PM on www.Spyderclub.com. His user name is Greenberg. He also has a very nice trailer for sale, but I believe his Spyder was sold.

I am certain that if Mark can't give you the answers you need, he can refer you to someone who can. Also, why not just go to Spyderclub as a guest and present your questions to the Canadians on the site. I have been a member there since 2005, and I know there were several Canadian owners who were quite active.
