Sorry Mike......i guess if ya cant beat em, join em. I picked up my Beck speedster from my good buddy John Brown from Dunbar W.Va last Sunday. John installed my 1915 Keith Dawson motor, built the tranny and all the suspension. My first driving experience was what i expected. The car was free of rattles and squeaks and drove flawless. I got some buffiting from the top and could have used about 3 more inches of leg room. The trip home was over a hundred miles in 50 degree temps but I loved every minute of it. I have added the emblems and will get to the bumper guards some time this week. My best advise is to have a good mechanic help you with your car. It payed off for me!
Bruce,

Last minute changes as always.
Got her mechanically finished. Still need to modify A1's muffler to "stand up" more for clearence purposes.

I'm down to the "playing" stage. Paint is all figured out (stripes/decals/etc) but there's no point in carrying it out until I'm 100% satisfied with the design choices.
Dad and I have talked about the possibility of flares, which had not previously been a thought of mine. I think we're going to make mods to the car and eventually one set of molds for a flared look.

I also decided to remake the tonneau/headrest to fit over the top rather than replace it. My initial design got rid of the top and windshield for a "strict" racecar look. Now I think that I'll make the line between weekend racer and racecar a little thinner.

I just think it's a lot more practical if you can keep the top. We are also playing around with the idea of an interchangable windscreen. Obviously there's no way to use the top w/ a 6" tall plexi windshield. BUT if they were interchangable I can have both looks.

I have a customer that wants my 2165 and sidewinder and doesn't want to wait, so I'm also thinking about a 2110 turbo motor (we'll see). At this point I have all winter before I'll drag it back out, so modify, modify, modify... (woke up this morning to SNOW!)

I'm terrible about stopping the progress of work for the camera, but I have a few pictures (as poor as they are). I'll post a few later.

Tom,

You're on! It would be great to have a few Beck Speedsters on the field so we can get a closer look.

Carey,

There are 11 OHIO Speedster owners registered on this site and at least one of them showed at Carlisle last year. We're hoping you make an appearance with that new Club Racer at Carlisle in May and bring those other Ohio guys with you!
