Well this looks interesting and is a deal.
Seller open for offers too.
I wonder what it would take to raise that body and drop a speedster on it?

(fiy - I have not seen it personally.)

BUGARU....gotta love the sense of humor in that.
sounds like a great deal!
Not a lot of spare room in there. It is about a 2 hour drive from me. I might have to go look at it just out of curiosity.
If that Beetle was located close to me I'd take a serious look at it.
Damn. You buy that and just do a swap into your existing speedster. Giddy up!
Believe me I thought of it . And if it were not a turbo, I might for for it. I have an IM Roadster with power steering and ac, there simply is not enough room. This guy had to scooted the engine forward 2 inches and there is access from what was the back seat. So probably the thing would be to simply re- body this one and upgrade the interior, etc. If my plate was not already so full, I'ld take a serious look at it. Oh well.
Hey guys, its my car. Happy to show anyone that is interested. I did all the work myself. It does still have a fully intact rear seat. Just the area behind the rear seat was modified to make room for the intercooler. Thanks to motorcarlo for posting up here.
Come take a look. If you buy it I will give you a free ride in my factory five roadster.
Well.., here is a link to some bodies - if any one were to be so inclined.
Honestly if we were not planning to move next year, and I did not already have a garage full of Porsches, I would go for it myself.
(Their ebay prices are about $1000 less than what is on their site.)
Looks about right for what it is. The key question is, will it run cool in normal driving?
This includes highway cruising and beachward stop-and-go. If so then it's a lock. Buy it, document everything, and archive that knowledge.
If not it's still worth a look.
Bodies are from Mexico. Note the fiberglass window frames as you look at these.
I heard from more than one of you about the low quality of those bodies. Thanks. I did not know. (So everyone else please disregard my link to the body source.)

Are you talking about the window frames on the doors?

Exactly. The window frames on the doors. Way too massive. A lot of other details are also missed. The glass may not be DOT approved either. They attempted to do a Mexican repop of the original glass. Ain't quite right. The window winders are plain steel and not coated with anything (rusty).

A rebody would be great... except for the extra foot of floor pan you have with the bug. Don't underestimate the work of shortening a pan.
Would it not be cheape

For the money you should buy a suby motor and drop it into a speedster, Less hassle...
You'll spend more money trying to replicate just the drivetrain than what I am asking for the whole car. $4k just for the engine, trans, clutch, flywhee, etc... Now add $1k for electronics. Then you need $2k in cooling, fuel system, wiring, tuning, gauges, and a couple 100 hours of fabrication time. but I recommend anyone give this a try. Its not too hard. . Oh... Dont forget $3k on a good pan and all new suspension parts, wheel bearings, etc...
There is a lot to be said about the ease of a turnkey set up!
