I'm getting ready to relist my speedster on eBay. There were some interesting twists and turns with the last auction and while the bidding didn't get to my reserve, I got some interesting offers after the auction.

I thought one offer was going to work and be within about $5K of my original asking price but the deal fell through. I'm not trying to make a profit here. That just isn't in the cards as there's too many goodie$.

I'll wait a week to see if there are any lurkers here on SOC that wish to contact me. I'm open to reasonable (cash) offers over $34K.

In a nutshell:
2000 Vintage, top,tonneaus & side curtains
Nerf bars, & stock bumpers fitted w/driving lights
Near new 195.60.15Dunlops (OK, they've been across the northern border)
Discs up front/Drums in back
Carrera guages, decklid, detailing & badges
15 gal tank,Fire suppresion system, auxillary oil cooler & pre-oiler
200 amp stereo, six CD changer w/ 6 speakers
200+ HP Type 4 built by Massive Type 4
Pictures available, shipping is buyer's responsibility

PS New clutch going in next week also.

Paul with all due respect here... 34K for a 2000 VS.. Have you priced Kirks cars lately? I've seen your ride and it's a sweet looking speedie, but 34K? well like they say... there's some born every minute and maybe they will hook you up! The funny thing here was on your last tread you mentioned that you were not interested in making a profit! LOL.. Good luck to you on ebay, cause I really do not see it happening here...

Ditto on Theron's remarks. The transaxle, cooling, belt system, and exhaust add to Butch's value. To sort out all the parts and work hours that it took to create such a balanced High Performance Speedster would be impossible to value. But I think Butch is worth every penny (and much more) I have seen it several times and had the pleasure of riding in it.... it pulls like a GTO. Someone described the ride at normal RPMs as very sedate, easy to drive on the street, but when the RPMs came up on a freeway ramp the beast came out.

I believe Paul took honors at the 2005 Parts Obsolete Camp Out.... high praise for a replica for sure. Best Speedster (SOC) at Knotts 04 and I think he earned honors at Ventura last year too.

There are many other items that make Butch unique, and a Speedster that will be hard to match, ever. See the previous thread (under this topic) for details.

Those of us that have had cars displayed next to Paul's Butch know what a crowd it draws. The few of us foolish enough to take on Butch at any RPM range have seen nothing but Paul's 6 o'clock position.

I do hope there is a lurker on the SOC that knows what he/she wants and that Butch fits the bill. I'm sure someone on E-bay will.

My 2 cents from Oklahoma
It's late and I just want to sell the car so I can move on. Of course it is an expensive 'Vintage', NOW. Of course you can buy a cheaper Vintage, and a newer Vintage. Hell, you can buy a lot of cars for a lot less money (here is where I used to call the antagonist dickweed or something)but that's not what this car or this site is about...It's about speedsters, real or otherwise.

I tallied the damages over the past five years and I could have bought three new Vintages (and then some if you factor in two engine rebuilds prior to the Type4) with what I've put into Butch. But those are Kirk's cars, and this is my car.

These are not rational, drive-to-the-grocery-store-cars. These are cars that pay tribute to a motoring era that has all but evaporated. These cars mean something and even though they are 'only replicas' they represent each individual's desire to have a hand in the legend that is either Porsche or the call to the open road.

Those that remember GB will have to admit that even though his ultimate engine didn't quite come together, if he had had more time it probably would have. He had an idea of what his speedster should be and the cost to obtain that goal was of little consequence.

Oddly as often as I found myself at odds with the man or bating him, I too had a vision of what my speedster should be; a little of the rat like my first one, a little bit of race car like my third one, some schtick and oh yeah, really fast.

Unlike ol' GB, I'm not technically or really mechanically inclined anymore so I pay mechanics to put my car together. In journalism they call this 'burying the lead' but here's my point; If I were looking to make a profit I would follow up on Cory Drake's suggestion about hitting the odd lot trail of high dollar auction services (talk about a guy who has a vision about his speedster! Cory's car will easily surpass a new Vintage in value I'm sure) and try to recoup closer to $60K...maybe a child/teen whatever TV star could step forward with his pocket change.

Forum folks, help me sell my car. Read the specs. There is a lot of speedster there. If you want to spend $26K for a brand new Vintage turnkey, do it. If you want to spend $35K-ish with JPS, do it. But for those of us who have taken speedsters to the next level and chosen to spend far more please understand that we did it for a reason and respect that.

F'ing Dickweed!(I couldn't help myself)

Paul, please e-mail me some high-res photos and specs I can put up in the speed shop here. There has to be someone in DC with the means to spend worthy money.
David, Paul's got to be among the most visionary folks in this community. There are a handful here who just weren't happy enough with the Speedster per se, and instead wanted to "up the ante" a little. A little turns into a little more, and finally that turns into a radical hydra that bites you in the a** with all seven heads. I understand where he came from, and I can guess he's headed to some completely different place with the next one.
If you ever get the chance to see or sit in Butch, you'll get it. It doesn't get any better. My sh** is pale by comparison.
Good luck, Paul, but send me those photos. I'll do what I can here in Baltimore and the District.
