Go for the heaviest thing that will fit......Highest cranking amps.....etc.
Luckily our cars are in a position to choose both ballast AND CCA.
Any opinions on Optima battery ??
Leon - why the heaviest? these are light cars with small motors (with relatively low compression) and minimal accessories - you don't need a huge battery.
i went with a PowerPeak 12v 28Ah battery. It's super light and small.

I travel in cold weather without worrying about access to a charger on a COLD morning......Just my preference....
I use an Odyssey gel-cell battery. It's less than half the size ND WEIGHT OF A LEAD-ACID BATTERY, AND (OOPS, HIT CAPS LOCK) worked fine through what passes for winter here. I think Mike McKelvey has a picture of a similar setup.
As for Optimas, I had one in my daily driver that lasted less than a year. Too damn short for such an expensive battery.

Like Leon said heaviest you can find -- you need weight in front of the front axel to offset all the weight in the rear of vehicle. I used a 35 series - it fit in an Attwood black plastic marine battery case and interchanges with the 3 Toyota's I have. Costco has Consumer Reports highly rated Johnson Control batteries. (Early 911 actually used iron ingots in either side of the front bumper for weight distribution.)
I guess the weight question did matter to me since mine is in the rear. Back there, lighter is better. Up front I have a full-size spare tire as the counter weight.
