All 'dark' colors have dual-personalities.

The darker they are the more reflective they are to the point that a mirror reflective black emphasizes the slightest wavy flaw or pimple and dulls quickly with a hint of dust...but the up-side is that they are truly stunning on flawless body work and kept ultra clean.

My black VS has such a dual-personality...

It reflects every fly speck, fingerprint and dulls even under exhaled bad breath!

Whereas my pumpkin orange 912 is a mid-value color (code#415B6) that is totally immune from moderate dust and dirt and always looks flawless.

The lighter the color value, the less 'reflective' it becomes and the easier to maintain a clean looking image...plus you save yourself the expense of a California Dusting Mop!

Yeah. That's why, even though I LOVE slate gray-- I just couldn't do it in the end. It's just too dark to maintain in Central Illinois.

Out west, I'd do it hands down. In my part of the country, we have lots and lots of bugs. Bugs leave their hometowns to come here for bug conventions. Cinders too- the state has decided that cinders are the same thing as re-paving, so they spread them liberally every winter They promptly clean them off the road by October or so, so the roads are ready for a fresh application in November.

I'd hate to drive the car if I had to look at what the bugs and cinders were doing to the paint every time I took it out. So, silver it is.

Black is cool, but completely out of the question in places like this.
