Well the time has come...with an upcoming move, I will no longer have garage space for "Speedy" anymore. I have time to do it right but looking for some advice on the best website to use to sell my Vintage Speedster - want to avoid "tire-kickers" and find someone who really appreciates these cars, and all the fun they provider to their owners. Suggestions?

The last three posted here sold pretty fast as we've had quite a few people lurking on the website. Other than that probably eBay Motors.
Here and BAT
eBay
Ooo ... ebay is a mixed blessing. I have to admit , I do cruise it to see what is there. But selling via ebay has been dicey at best. Be prepared for the dreamers and the shifty. How about Hagerty's? Also I agree that BAT seems pretty legit. If got stuck, I would probably give them a try prior to the ebay nuts. A great presentation makes a big difference. Below is a link to a car I have for sale now as example. You do not need a web site to do this. But put together a list of why your car is so great, the work you have done to it, how much fun it is and why our are selling it... and have some low dpi 'for web' photos you can send. It lets the buyer know you care about your car. Troy is a good example of how to present a car. I want to buy his every time I see one on ebay.
Other free sites are : Cars.com, carsforsale.com, cargurus.com. They mostly list the new stuff, but also have speedsters listed - especially car gurus. Good luck with it.
Samba is free and probably less stressful than CraigsList. CraigsList is good for bargain cars (or at least reasonably priced cars) - folks are local so at least you are dealing with folks face to face. I know a lot of people who bought Speedsters off of Craigslist. Just beware of scammers. I'd meet to settle transaction at a bank, DMV or Police Station. I once sold
I once sold car while grocery shopping. Had FOR SALE sign on dash and got a call from grocery parking lot - SOLD.
Having just purchased a Speedster, I searched:
SOC, Craigslist (all cities in CA, OR, NV and WA), the Samba, oldbug, eBay, Hemmings, Carsforsale.com, Autotrader, BaT, and YouTube on a daily basis
I felt more comfortable buying through this site more than anything (that is if the seller was 1. A supporting member and 2. On this site longer than their ad). After that I was comfortable buying a car through the Samba, oldbug and Craigslist. Cars on Hemmings tend to be way overpriced. And I didn't trust eBay at all (nor the 79 people watching / hot car).
Craigslist can be full of scammers, but like the fact that it was "local" or within a day's drive to inspect the car. I'd never buy a car I could see in person first, photos don't tell the whole story.
I ended up buying my car through Craigslist it was local (within 25miles of my house) and I felt I got a good deal.
with the nice weather now, local cars and coffees would be a good place to slide a "for sale" sign on the car

@MotoCarlo nice Z4. I absolutely love the coupes. I had a Roadster before my son was born.

Beautiful car SP. My favorite color (and parking lot friend).
Glad that you scored a fine auto. My explanation of 79 folks watching the "HOT" car on EBAY was simply to point out that MANY people were aware AND interested in the vehicle. I'm NOT sure that TRUST of any kind is implied or appropriate. Many fine vehicles reach an ENORMOUS audience on EBAY and it is largely and advertising source rather than an ABSOLUTE TRANSACTION VEHICLE for cars. I was not suggesting that there were 79 VIABLE deals in play, just pointing out the wide audience of interest.
I would have bought this car from the FULLER BRUSH MAN or the ZOHAN should it have been presented in a reasonable fashion. Any RESOURCE that enables sales and confidence is a good thing and we should be grateful for the many available to us.
Just SAYIN !!
Love the coupes. Had blue 99 M Coupe and an 01 Z3 Coupe (with automatic). That 01 silver Z3 Coupe with red leather interior and auto was my favorite commuter car ever.
Yep. The 3.0 will really stand up and pay attention over 5k rpm. I actually like how it handles and drives more than the m . But I now need a pickup, so off it goes to the next garage.

No offense but never mind the BMW look at that nice Mercedes Benz you're parked by. Whose car is that?
Sorry @Banzai Pipeline. I realize after reading my post that may have appeared as a "slam" in your direction. That is not what I intended. Given your location, I'm sure there are not many Speedsters located near you. Therefore you'd need to use any channel you may have to score a speedie.
As far as "hot items", I feel that people could round up their friends to mark sale items as "watching" or "interested", etc. just to get top dollar as folks feel they need to act quick and pay full price, if not more. Regardless, I'm sure you'll have a grin from ear to ear tearing up the island roads.
Why I'd prefer to purchase through this site is pretty obvious; everyone on this site has a passion for their speedster. As a buyer, you'd know that the speedster was taken care of, or why would someone seek out this forum for advice or help?
@Robert M the gullwing was in the spot in front of me when I parked at a parking garage in SF. I had to capture that moment with a photo, as I have no idea the next time I'll be parked bumper to bumper with a gullwing. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous parking my car. Had to have Wifey get out to verify how close I was.

NO WORRIES...all good...just wanted to emphasize that any resource has the potential to yield results to the SAVVY BYER.
Thank you for all the great suggestions. I want to stay away from Craigslist here in my market - I did put it on CarGurus.com; but it has brought me more "dreamers" than potential buyers who have an understanding of what Speedsters are all about. Just mentioning it in this string has brought me some PM's from some interesting parties. I appreciate the comments and guidance.
Some more questions....
So to post a Speedster for sale on this site....is it a matter of just starting a new discussion string, showing some pics etc, or is there somewhere else on the site I list it for sale? OR...can I do that and just show a link to CarGurus etc where I have MORE details and photos?
AND this has come up twice now with California folks, one from this community actually; where they both expressed concerns about being able to "register" my Speedster from Arizona, in California. Note that my car is from Vintage Speedster, but I bought it slightly used from a party in Southern California, it was already licensed and titled in California (I actually still have the plate) so it should not be a problem to get it registered again in CA; right? The reference to the CA title is even mentioned on my Arizona title.
And finally, sorry for all the lame-ass questions....
I'd list it here with detail and some pictures and include link to CarGuru's. I would not put phone # or email in ad. Let them PM you or use email link on SOC. We'll ask questions if you don't include enough info.
I think issue with Calif is how it can be titled there. The special construction and old VW get you exempt from smog requirement. Suspect once you leave Calif the SC disappears?
