I must have a hair-trigger finger, I always seem to hit the wrong button and a blank post goes up.
I'm checking into attending the Carlisle event this year, but really did not want to be gone for 6 days. 2 days to drive there, 2 days at Carlisle and then 2 days back, 2 long 2 be gone...If I trailered it, I could probably cut it down a day or a day and a half to 4.5 days.
Any suggestions? If it were 300-400 miles, i would absolutely drive it there...but 650 miles, that is a long haul in a Speedster. Who has experience with long of a drive. I know several people from the south were going to meet up on the way there.

Bob,
Email John Hallstrand (Tennessee) and Peter McEwan (South Carolina), you can find them in the registry or they might post here - they're coming to Carlisle. BTW, in case you haven't read it here John is getting ready to drive his car to the Knotts meet, back home and then to Carlisle.
Another possibility is Steve O'Brien (Iowa) who is having a car built in Tennessee and is hoping to drive it to Carlisle. I don't know the latest on his build.
Of interest, our longest distance driver last year drove 1,100 miles from Iowa. Jim Ward drove even farther to Knotts last year and came in second longest. It can be done!
If you have questions about trailering there is another thread under "EVENTS" on this site about trailering options to Carlisle.

Bruce speaks correctly. My plan for Carlisle is to leave Thursday morning early and drive straight through, I-40 to I-81 all the way to the hotel. It's about 10 hours of actual driving, a piece of cake after Knotts.
We will be heading back Sunday afternoon and driving part way, probably stopping overnight somewhere in Virginia, but that's not firm. We'll play that one by ear.
Upon returning to Tennessee on Monday, the 23rd, we will have to rush to get ready for a mission trip to Tallinn, Estonia, leaving on the 26th. The Cabriolet will be getting a much deserved rest for a few days. Phew, busy Spring!

I may be taking delivery at Carlisle and driving my new car home? I won't really know until that week? We have resolved most parts issues and the car is headed to paint/body prep later this week. Were a little behind and there are some unknown variables yet to deal with, I think by Knotts will pretty much know if its likely or unlikely. I say MAKE IT HAPPEN, but thats easier said then done.
