Can someone advise on Beverly Hills Motor Cars?  They seem to have an extraordinary number of Speedsters, and Roadsters, from various mfg.'s.  Exponentially more than other dealers. I am looking, and wonder if this is one stop shopping!  Can anyone comment on their product as far as how they go through the cars before resale?  And also if they are good on their word?

Well, I was just curious how this dealer (BHMC) is rated?  I have had plenty of good transactions over the phone, sight unseen, and also a few not so good! The thing that caught my eye here is their stock.  I haven't come across a dealer who handles this many different 356 replicas.  They must be doing something right, or else they like to hold inventory!

I went and took the required pictures and then emailed a very descriptive list of negatives our car possessed, (not required.)  I didn't want to drive 4 hours, to hear "Oh that's not the car we thought it was."  (Did they do me the same courtesy? Hell no).  It is Sunday evening and I asked  the sales guy, Benjamin J Hellmoldt,  for an answer by close of business last Thursday,

Autobahn Motors Mercedes-Benz

700 Island Parkway

Belmont, CA 94002

Nothing from these fleabags. Further, I could have just as easily paid cash for the Boxster and sold the 560 later, but no, TYPICAL used car dealers. NEVER AGAIN!

My thoughts about these folks....If it sounds too good to be true it isn't.  But in their defense I haven't had dealings with them. So unlike my case with Autoban Mercedes of Belmont, I'll withhold judgement.

I suspect BVMC has positive cash flow to afford them the ability for larger inventory levels.

Patience I have.  The market usually determines the price, excluding distress sales.  Still, for one dealer to have so much product compared to everyone else, they must be paying well to obtain the inventory.  Not living in Souther California, it is hard to get a handle on a dealer's reputation.

I deal with the owner of BHMC, Carl, and he has always been great to deal with. Obviously I have never purchased a car from him (and I don't think I've ever directly sold him a car) but I do sell him parts and give his mechanic advise. Carl has flown out to Carlise in the past as well.
I have referred people to him when I don't have what they are looking for. All the reviews I have heard have been positive.

I know nothing of BHMC. But, I do know quite a bit about Special Edition, Inc. I didn't realize they have a steady stream of built cars that they sell in addition to the built to order cars. Their reputation is impeccable and the service and hospitality shown to me was quite an eye opener. At some point I am going to buy a 550 Spyder to go along with my 356 Speedster, and they will be my one-stop shop.

It just so happened that they had a car that was the same color and had the same options as the car I was going to have built. I saw it at a recent visit to their shop. I thought it was a demo in their showroom because it was so clean and perfect. It turns out it was for sale on consignment and was a car they had built and sold a few years ago. The price was right and best of all no waiting for 4-6 months to get the car built. They are busy.

The thing is the car is so close to my ideal Speedster, I really only need a couple of minor changes. Kevin and Carey Hines stated as a matter of fact that there was nothing they could not do to the car to make it exactly what I wanted, both before and after delivery. I really appreciate a business that has an impeccable reputation for delivering a superior product and then backs it with customer service.

I would certainly recommend Special Edition to anyone looking for a car.

I'm new to this forum.  I just sold my 56 Chevrolet and need something that fits in my garage a little easier.
In looking around for an IM roadster I have visited Carl at Beverly Hills Motorcars.  He has a large inventory of vehicles (including 3 roadsters) .
I found him to be forthright and easy to deal with. His prices are necessarily more than private party prices but current owners of such cars should welcome aggressive pricing as it creates more value for their cars.
Thus said, I am currently torn between a private party red 2002 IM and Carl's Black 1991 (or so) IM. Seems like a no-brainer but I hate red.

I will be interested in how you fare if you do indeed purchase from BHMC.  i.e. If their representation holds up to the actual product, etc.  Thanks
