A quote from the CLF on big type 1 VW engine reliability. How many miles will you put on your car?

"When I rebuilt my 2110 as a 2275 the only thing I changed was the
pistons and cylinders.. I noticed the engine had a lot more bottom end
grunt. It also was much more drivable, in traffic that is. But, I did notice that the 94's do run slightly hotter than the 90.5's. I managed to clock 10,000 miles on the engine this year (using to drive to work and back, about 30-40 miles a day), and the motor looked great. The bearings looked brand new, the pistons and cylinders
looked like I just put them in. Once you run the 94's its hard to go
back. I kept my 90.5's for a long time because I was worried about
overheating. But, after a while I figured to switch back to the 90.5's would be such a loss in drivability that it just wouldn't be worth it. Just my experience. Nathan"
