He certainly did and Bill's passing  was a terrible loss to us all but to the West Coasters who Bill was very close to.  I met Bill at the Morro Bay event and he was an instant good friend!  The memorial run that Gerd and others organize is a nice annual memorial event in Bill's honor.

This  should be a warning to us all--these cars are 4 wheel motorcycles that demand incredible concentration and care driving.    In my 5 years here this was the only such accident I am aware of so that says a lot about the heed the folks pay when driving these little cars.

I love driving my Speedster and have done everything I know of to improve safety but I understand it will damned sure bite me if I let it.

Folks--be careful out there!

Rest in peace, Bill.

THANKS EDDY WILL CATCH UP WITH U LATER

CHRISTIAN, YES BILL DIED DOING WHAT HE LOVED TO DO AND THAT WAS CRUISING IN HIS SPEEDSTER. BOUGHT AN ENGINE TO BIG, TOOK A TURN, REAR END SWUNG OUT AND HE HIT A FOCKEN POLE (AS WIDE AS ME) ON HIS DRIVERS DOOR AND IT FLIPPED THE CAR OVER ON HIS HEAD AND HE SLID DOWN THE ROAD THAT WAY. SORRY TO BE GRAPHIC BUT JACK IS SO RIGHT AND BILL WOULD NEVER WANT ANY OF US TO DIE OTHER THAN IN OLD AGE DRIVING OUR CARS. I STILL CANT GET OUT OF MY MIND THAT 6 TO 8 INCHES ON EITHER SIDE OF THAT FOCKEN POLE AND HE WOULD HAVE WALKED AWAY LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF AND PAID A **** LOAD TO REPAIR THE CAR.

LOTS OF GREAT FRIENDS TO BE MADE ON THIS SITE JUST DRIVE SAFE.

Just got back from Bill's memorial run, didn't bring a camera, but some pic's were taken & I'm sure they will appear real soon....I left a Rubber Mr Bill last year, on the gate post that Bill hit when his tub flipped, Didn't think it would still be there, but there it was, with about a year's worth of dirt accumulated on it.....A few somber moments, & then off through the hills again....

RIP Bill.....

Glad to see our knucklehead SOC friends today on the 'Drive-Your-Other-Car-Memorial-Cruise' for Mr. Bill! Observing a few somber moments and sharing remembrances of our good buddy reminded us that its the people and not the cars that make this group. RIP Mr. Bill!

As a side note to my partners in crime; WRT our MB overheating going up the Angeles Crest Hwy, turns out that my radiator cap had popped off and lost some coolant. Found the cap resting on top of my manifold, replenished the coolant, applied the cap and off we went without any further issues!

You could look for an early Miata, if you are at all interested in Miatas.  They are lighter, and don't have all the extras that the newer ones come with.  I prefer the simpler body lines, also.

They make great track cars, and can be modified all you want.  Mine drove circles around my useless TR6.
