When I first started fishing around this site months back, getting semi serious about actually buying something I had admired and loved since I was a kid in the early 60's, I came away with the impression that most here were a bunch of middle aged VW wrench monkey hippies who like to drink, never got enough sex, and had a passion for these beautiful cars. Well, I felt right at home. So now, on the (near) eve of the delivery of my car, I felt it necessary and right to become a donating member, and to upload 10 photos into my profile. The car is not here yet, but I can feel the contractions, the cold sweats, and sleepless nights, and the yearning for chocolate ale..(did I say that?) Anyway, thanks guys for all I've learned, and all I will learn going forward. Steve

Good deal, Steve!
I picked up Penny from JPS eight years ago around this time. I flew down and drove her back. I had to stop occasionally and get out to look at her.
A bit of advice: be sure not to ignore your wife during the next couple weeks. No women likes to play second fiddle. ;-)
BTW, I have a good friend who lives and breathes all things Volkswagen in Auburn. Good source for oil and mechanical help.
Looking forward to ripping through the foothills with you.
Thanks for the welcome guys. Looking forward to tearing up some Gold Country roads soon!! My wife left several years ago so dont have to worry about her feeling second fiddle. I hear that between the Hotsprings spa and this car that I bought myself as an award for paying her off, that now she is upset with me again, but like my boy likes to say, "honey badger dont give a s%*#t" !
Thank you Troy, I cant tell you how many times I have sat in the back seat of that serengetti speedster and taken the drive up the hill with you to the gas station ..(probably half a dozen times)Great little video. The sound of the motor, downshifting,... powering up through the curves, the wind and sun...that beautiful car.Life cant get too much better than that. I thought that little nylon key tag "remove before flight" was too cool and found a 5 pack on the internet for $9.99. Keeping a couple for me and the rest for my pilot buddies. I am curious about your camera set up and mounting system if you care to share. Steve
Hi Steve.
In case you didn't know, Steve W. who posted earlier in this same thread is the proud new owner of the Serengeti Speedster and it is a sweet little car! From the looks of it, I'm sure your's will be just as sweet!

The camera is a GoPro Hero and it comes with a large suction cup mount that you can attach anywhere on your car. Check out some of Musbjim's posts on here. He has produced some really cool videos with his GoPro.
Here is his latest.
