Mat, what you really want is Porsche Racing Silver as seen on the venerable K45-286 car.

Sikkens calls it Porschesilber 930.

BASF/Glasurit calls that silver Por 936. The numbers for the formula are 91109590380936.

Silver is the new black, which was only somebody's attempt at a better silver. Don't let Steve and Angela talk you into black. Or these other folks. Or anybody, really. Silver, baby. Silver. You'll thank me for this intervention someday. ;)

You wouldn't paint a Cobra green, would you?
Black is the bomb. Now I need help scoring primer paint and clear coat. The stuff they use down there is crap but they do a great job of prep and actual labor. Let me know where I can get this stuff. I keep hearing of this 2k primer is that the best? I guess im looking for something good but not too over the top because its fiberglass and eventually I expect some cracks.
What are you looking for? Black or some shade of black. The 2K can be of a less expensive quality brand Valspar, PPG Shop-line 1 gal. unmixed will end up depending on brand 1.5 to 2 gal mixed. That will take care of a medium size car most of the time. The top coats should be as hi end as you can afford (PPG, Sikkens, Glasurit) as they give you the life and color reproduction you want. Stick with hi solids urethane or poly urethane clears. These are clears with out the yellow tinge and give you a much deeper color. Some of your other option are Polyesters I don't have as much experiences with these but they are very durable also. If you choose to go with a shade of black a less expensive clear may be exceptable, as the reproduction of the color may not be an issue to you.

Im looking for a black car that will stop women in the streets and automatically come and talk to me, why else am I building this car haha.

Here is the part that confuses me. When I was patching fiberglass I was told epoxy can go over polyester but not the other way around. is this the same advice for fillers? From what I understand I am looking at an epoxy primer, ppg black 9300 base coat and layers of clear over that.

I know some of you have painted these cars but I bet a lot of you just took them into the shop. Can anyone help out on amounts needed for epoxy primer, base coat and clear coat for a CMC speedster.

Are any of you pros on this? I would also appreciate a phone call that would be cool.
Pro that is for some one else to proclaim. I have in the past made my living doing Auto Body and Paint. People in this line of work have different process that they are comfortable using, it is actually a personal preference. There are may lines and types of product to use. My father still uses Lacquer yeh Lacquer GARBAGE but that is by today's standard. In the day, it was the best. When I work on glass, I seal it up with DP Epoxy then go to the filler, after the shape is right a coat of DP fallowed by 2K, then the sand and 2K, if you have done a good job, final sand, seal and paint, DCC base Poly clear. How much product you will use is dependent on your overall ability. 1gal unmixed DP, Bondo and 2K is a great start. Paint will take 1gal spray-able, Clear 2gal spray-able as you will sand and polish about 1/3 of what you spray on, off. Hope this is what you are looking for.
