Went to the Grand National Roadster Show (formerly the Oakland Roadster Show, but now held in Pomona, CA.) yesterday. This is the gran daddy of all hot rod shows. There was ONE speedster representing the madness.
Older CMC with mild flares. Flat black. Four beehives. Hard rear tonneau with a padded leading edge aligning with the seatbacks. Roll bar. FORWARD facing rear air scoop (told him I'm not sure THAT works?) Faux front oil cooler grille. Diamond plate floors and rear storage area. 914 seats. Three small elleptical, convex rear view mirrors. Homemade windshield - quarter inch compound curved plexi, shorter than stock, no frame, flared out at bottom to create at flat which was simply bolted to the dash. Homemeade dash. 2056 engine with dual Dels and quad exhaust tips. 901 five speed (jealousy!). Has little bits from about a dozen other cars here and there, door pulls, knobs, gauges, etc.
Driver wears one of those shorty, chopper style, flat black, hard helmets when driving. Lives somewhere near Pomona. Tried to talk him into visiting this site. I think he is more about "doing it" than talking about it.
