It been a while since my last update on the Black Sheila, the engine bay is now all claded with new sheet metal and the engine had it first start up after a four year silence. The engine will be fine tuned while on the test bench then into the speedster.

Sounds great! What size motor?
The engine bay looks spectacular.
That's awesome. Man I really want to do another air cooled car. T4 spyder would be ultimate.

1599cc first oversize from 1588cc had plans for a 2110cc but with the current ZAR/USD exchange rate this is now a pipe dream.
That sucker sounds loud.
Wow! I want one of those. Cool Beans.

Considering the muffler has 2 inlets and 2 outlets (each path is only using 1/2 the muffler), I'm not surprised. An if the engine was stone cold and started like that, I wouldn't be too happy....
Manny!
Awesome sound, and the interior sheet metal is to be marveled at.
Hope you guys went out for some Eagle Extras, or at least a few Tuskers after that first, successful fire-up!
You guys are doing it right, over there...... gn

Awesome job, Manny..... You guys are doing a great job.
Hadn't had any Tuskers Lager since my last trip to South Africa in 1998, but then my wife and I spent a few days at Disney World's "Animal Kingdom Lodge" and few weeks back and, whattayaknow..... They had Tuskers in the bar! Very good stuff, that.
I wondered why you were using that solid-state Bosch voltage regulator until I took another look at the engine and saw the vintage generator. Pretty cool! Don't forget to tighten up the air cleaner clamp on the driver's side - saw it moving around when the engine was rev'ing up!
