Thanks guys, still a lot of work to be done.

I am just happy the front end is now complete and correct the previous front end headlamps was two inches higher this was done to comply with previous road regulations.

The rear seat correction is almost done, all that is now needed is to blend the rear seat to the inner rocker panel/sill.

The rear seat correction mould was made from a 356 coupe ,my builder did say installing the rear seat correction was not a simple task. it is not perfect but I am happy with the results.

Fuel tank installed, no mods done to the tank and steering column.

The Black Sheila is finally out of paint, the builder still needs to fit all the small bits and pieces and then it is ready for collection.
I am hoping end of August, then its off to do some engine ,gearbox, suspension upgrades and electrical work.
Lowering the headlights makes a huge difference and I am very pleased with the modification.

Great news, Manny!  You should be seeing light beaming on a completion, soon.

 

Do you think it will be done this year or fall into next?  I don't suppose it's a "summer" or "winter" project, you guys being on the Equator, just hot and hotter.....

I am planing to have it completed by mid January 2015, the engine and gearbox will be removed cleaned up (not sure which upgrade to do as yet will decide once I am able to drive and feel the car), brand new fan shroud & cooling tins to be installed,  front and rear suspension upgrades, adjustable swing arm , new Pertronix ignition system, remote oil cooler with electric fan, all new bushings and seals, fuel system upgrade and the list just goes on.

Due to my work situation I am not able to do all this work myself I only come home twice a year, I would have loved to do all this work, sadly to save time this work will be contracted out, thus allowing me to to the finishing touches.

The Black Sheila was delivered in September to a reputable VW/Porsche mechanic here in South Africa. The speedster went in for suspension, gearbox, engine and electrical work. On receiving the speedster my mechanic contacted me and told me the VW floor pan on my speedster was faulty in many aspects and could not be repaired. Not willing to risk my safety with a faulty floor pan or delay the project, my mechanic was able to source a new floor pan. After a long discussion we decided might as well do a floor pan refurbishment, this included replacing every thing that's needs replacing.The floor pan was sand blasted, shortened and welded correctly. Front axle beam shorthanded by 2'' inches, new front beam adjusters added, front spindles replaced. Stock E-brake removed replaced with two steel tubes for the under dash E-Brake. Under E-Brake swivel mechanism installed. Stock Pedals modified to replicate 356 Porsche pedals. Shifter centered on the tunnel. Reproduction 356 seats mounted with brackets and slider. All bolts and nuts sent for electroplating.

 

Marty, has this "VW Porsche mechanic" ever considered immigrating to the States? If so, western Connecticut is a nice place to set down roots!
