Ok, so I purchased a Points Replacement Module for my VS and something was wrong with it (or me, prob me read on). So the guy at the shop says bring it back to test. So I start to put the old points back in and connect the points lead to the positive coil nut. I turn it over and nada...

Now no dual red lights on the speedo and will not turn over. Did I blow the coil or might there be a fuse somewhere?

OK, I have a day to make it right!

Jason the two red lights are your warning lights for the alt. and oil. One will always go off when you crank and the other when it starts. You have a spark problem for sure pull off a spark plug wire and hold it with some INSULATED plires. Let it arc to the engine block or another goround. If you see a spark then your points/coil/wires are all good. If not pull the cap off and make sure the gap is correct on the points and that they are opening and closing.

Your two red lights should be oil pressure and alternator output.

If your starter turns your engine over, you probably see the oil pressure light go out. You can build oil pressure on just your starter alone.

On mine, the alternator may not go out until engine is turning over 500 or 600 RPM. Your starter alone will not make that one go out - your engine has to start first to get that much RPM.

Hope you can get the electric sorted. If nothing else, my speedster has taught me rewards of preserverance, something no mere new vehicle can do.
OK, my only choice was to reinstall the points module to trouble shoot, and it started. Seems to run a bit different though. Going to have a mechanic tomorrow check it to be sure. Mostly sitting at idle it seems different, smells a bit gas drunk too.

Thanks for the advice...but seems semi-ok now. -J
BTW the original problem with the electronic ingnition was the rotor had to be sanded down to fit once installed. I didn't sand the bottom of it down enough and the point at the top of the cap stuck inside and would not come out. Had to buy another cap and shave down the rotor more. Plug and play?? Almost!
