I just replaced my LeCarra 14" leather wrapped dished steering wheel with a LeCarra 14" flat wood and polished wheel and I discovered the blinker arm is very close to the steering wheel and I knock the %^&$ out of my fingers when I turn and I can't activate the brigh lights. I am also afraid I will break the blinker arm. I searched the archives and found a discussion tha said a 1971 VW bus blinker arm will work however I looked through Wolfsburg West and there is nor arm listed for a 1971 VW Bus. Will the arm assembly in this link work?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

This is the one I am using for my unfinished car.

You should be aware that the bus column tube is smaller diameter than the beetle tube. I made a 1/4" smaller tube out of copper pipe with a fitting on the end so I could use the beetle bearing. I still had to enlarge the opening in the switch. I don't think you could successfully enlarge it enough to fit the beetle tube.

The way I adapted the tube for the bearing, the inner shaft won't fit far enough into the tube with the stock spring. The gap between the steering wheel and the switch is too big. I am waiting for a spring that compresses more. I thought of using a stack of 3 rubber O-rings instead of the spring.
