And I still have the valve. Not that anybody here would actually care or give a . . . hoot.
That's really cool, Kelly. I'd heard of them but never actually seen a sodium filled valve before.
Now there's a first: put one over on Yoda. Never happened before, likely never again.

Al: My 53 MGTD was raced before I acquired it, and it had sodium filled valves. I guess it helped, but then the entire engine had been modified.
You'll find, Kelly, (once you get to know me) there's a lot I haven't seen. I've led quite a sheltered life, really...

Most of us have.
We see the world though the lens we possess, and through our own frame of reference. Learning new stuff is what makes this hobby cool to me. If the stuff I learn has no practical use outside of this hobby, that's cool too.
The Porsche 914 2L (also 912E) used sodium filled exhaust valves too - for greater cooling capacity. When rebuilding though, Jake R goes with the less expensive SS valves. I recall from chemistry that Sodium was stored in Kerosene and that putting it in water would cause a drastic chemical explosion.
