Alan,

That car looks great. I had to look twice, before I saw where the Miata ended and the Z3 started.

Mind you, I too would give it up if someone were willing to buy me an '05 Mustang!

Good luck with your purchase. Are the Mustangs in dealerships yet? There was a news story here in SE Michigan last week (on one of the affiliates) that said that they had been released to dealers only in Detroit so far.

Jim,
I saw one (and the only one )last Thursday at a dealer in Philadelphia Pa.
What a car! It takes me back to 1967 that body lines are quite close to the original '67 year, the dash looks retro and more . Ford will hit a financial home run on this 'Stang and the new GT 40 My personal choice would be to hold out for the '05 Pontiac Soltice convertible !

Here's a link to a short clip on the new '05 Mustang.

www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/launch/

One the top of the link there is a sound tab left click it and enjoy shifting etc!
Ron O:

Who's to say the new Mustang's aren't made in Canada? I don't know, one way or the other, but it COULD be.....

On your eccentric lettering on your iMac:

Go to the Apple - upper left corner of your screen....go to system preferences....hit "show all"....go to "Personal" and click on "International". Select the language of choice (Canadian?) for your various environments (there should be several) and you should be OK, ok?

I may be wrong.......I've only had mine a week or so......good luck!

Mustang lovers, (that includes me)

I believe the current Mustangs are now built in Wixom, Mi, west of Detroit a short distance. They were previosly made at the old River Rouge plant. I bought a new 5.0 LX in 88 and what a blast that car was. The LX didn't have all the cladding that the GT had and it was about 300 lbs lighter. It also had the same drivterain as the GT, zoom, zoom! Had a ball with the car and was ticketless for a couple of years but suddenly got 2 in about a month.

The new Stang is a lot of car for the dollar, 300hp and about 325 of torque. If they aren't in the showroom now, they should be there shortly. Rag top version in the spring I hear.

Bruce ...
You don't know us Merklin's :) Kim and I enjoy the cars ( she's a car girl) hence, the regular vehicle changes.
It's somewhat unique to have a spouse that say's "yeah let's buy it" instead of the whinning like many others do.(So we eat a lot of pasta !)
We may very well go to the poor house at retirment but we'll have fond memories!
I had a '68 Mustang with a built up 289 with all the trimmings in the early '70's and belonged to the "Set Of Tires For The Week Club" I can't begin to imagine what a ride this '05 will be.
Then again, there is the new Pontiac Solstice coming out in the not too distant future ..... :~)
Bruce,

The Mustang assembly plant switched from Wixom (where it was built on the same line as the Thunderbird and Crown Vic) to the Auto Alliance plant in Flat Rock, Michigan with the introduction of the '05 model.

Ford apparently did not have sufficient flexibility in the existing line in Wixom to accommodate the redesigned Mustang and so moved to the plant that previously was used to build the Probe and other Ford/Mazda badged vehicles.

The Ford Racing group has already started a line of upgrade equipment for the Mustang - including a 5.0 litre V8 Cammer crate engine with 420HP and 370ft.lb torque!

So you may not have to wait for the Cobra after all!

Apparently the Mustang racing programme will have have cars painted to look like Parnelli Jones Boss 302 origianl in orange and black stripes.

My brother bought a new '67 Mustang GT with a 390 V-8 when he got out of the Air Force. It was dark Green with a set of ET Mags and was a dead ringer for Steve McQueen's car in Bullitt - even had the 8-track radio in the dash.

It came shod with Firestone "Super Oval" tires, which lasted all of 7,000 miles (!?!?!?!) Ford ended up eating the first set and re-shod it with the same model, which lasted another 7,000 miles. He finally put a set of Michelins on it and they lasted about 50K......Hmmmmmmm.

That was back in the days of Holley 4-barrels and lots of torque. I never drove anything else like it until my son came along with his 450 hp turbo Eclipse. Both of them were/are a blast to drive.

Oh! and the Mustang had a flop-down rear seat that made into an expansive rear deck, and that HUGE rear picture window...........hmmmmmmm.......

Of course, if I remember right, McQueens' wife's car in Bullitt was a pale yellow 356 Cab.

S O L D !

I have my wife's BMW Z-3 replica on ebay It's built on a Mazda Miata. Great car with no problems, looks great with the matching hard tonneau cover and double hoop chrome roll/show bar.
Fun car to drive and it's ummmm watertight too!
It constantly gets the thumbs up from lookers. Kim now has eyes for a '05 Mustang hence this toy is available. Item number: 4500548746

BTW the roll/show bar WILL fit a speedster with minor mounting mods. They are available on ebay under Miata parts for less than $200
