X2.

Everybody's different -- but I'd sell, put the money in some bonds or income funds, and buy a nice 427 Cobra replica (say a Kirkham) with the interest.

I could get two new ones (as long as they weren't aluminum) every year. $3M makes $150k every year at 5%.

Personally, it's just not that special to sit in the garage at a $3M valuation. The again, I feel the same way about a real 356.

Right. Go over to the Kirkham site and look at a few polished aluminum Cobras.

Those things make me weak in the knees.

Maybe it says something about me, but "original" means nothing at all to me. "Cool" beats "original" every single time.

100%

I don't enjoy the drive based on how much the car is worth. I enjoy it based on how much it makes me unable to wipe off the SEG

My friend, in his Vintage Spyder 550, and I parked next to a Ferrari F40 at a cars and coffee one time.  This owner used a different tactic.  When folks asked him if it was real (given the proximity of our cars), he told them no, it was a fiero kit.....but with the V6, and not the crappy GM 4-cyl.

That’s a Ferrari owner I’d like to buy a sandwich, and something you don’t often encounter outside of Kalifornia. Most Midwest guys with Ferrari (Mondials, generally) have license plate frames on their Ford Explorers that say, “Ask Me About My Ferrari!”. This dude has a freaking F40 (which is stupid-cool), and he’s OK slumming with the clown cars and making a great joke about it.

Excellent.

Not to sound flippant , but to some people $3m is walking around money.

This gentleman occasionally shows up at the Friday night cruise at Meschutt Beach. He is very low key, usually just parks and walks away. He also has quite a few other cars of American, German and Italian heritage, and isn’t afraid to drive any of them. He is a car guy through and through. The guys I don’t like are the ones who show up in a new Corvette and are afraid if you breathe on it.

Kirkhams is here in town. My brother does a lot of work for their dad. Just like VMC and Beck Speedsters, Kirkham Cobras are better in every way but resale value than the originals.

That's a lot of shyt going on there.  If you have a billion or maybe only $100M, $3M here or there -- meh . . .

I managed to tag along with a Ferrari racing club doing their thing along with the F1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal a few years ago. A long and very fub story there.  The cars, F40s I think, are only a small part of the adventure, where the owner/drivers each have their own driving coach, electronic analytics up the wahzoo, a data analysis tech, and the sponsoring Ferrari dealer puts up two huge tractor trailers full of parts in their pit area, replete with machine shop and mechanics. It takes a whole lot of really big money, and they just don't care.  Right next door was the same sort of deal with guys racing around in G3s on the track when it was their turn. Huge money . . . Footnote: one of these amateur rich driver/owners made a bad move on the track and totaled his and another of the Ferraris on race day. One went to the H.
