Working on putting together what has to be a very old CMC/ Fiberfab speedster.  The side bolted on lower rubber guard rails, those things under the doors, from front fender to rear fender came with very short metric ( have no idea the size) carriage bolts and washers and nuts.  They are about 1/2 inch long. My body is about 3/4 inch thick in that area.   So, no way I could install them.  I found at the local hardware store  longer carriage head bolts and they are actually size 10 X 24 threads. So, replaced the five short bolts with the longer ones and resolved that mounting problem.

On the dash visor, which fits on top of the instruments, I found that had also, the size 10 screws ( actually size 10X 24 screws, mounted into that piece).  So, it was missing the nuts and someone sold me size 10X32 and those did not work.  I went back to the hardware store and found the size 10X24, a more course thread, used on my speedster parts.

I don't know if anyone else , who built their own speedster found wrong sized or short length bolts from Taiwan parts, in their speedster kits, but I certainly had to figure out what sizes were used on various parts and while I think about it, the outside door handles , the small studs are also size 10X24.  Mine were missing from the door handles and I  wanted longer studs on them, my choice.

I wanted to put the hood pull handle with my pretty Fiberfab Porsche looking emblem on it and again, the hood on my speedster is too thick for the studs which came on the hood handle.  So, have not figured out how to change to longer studs, for mounting that part.

I see many of the speedsters only have a "Porsche" hood emblem on them, and no handle.  Maybe, that is an option I need to consider, for a clean, simple look .  Also, that lower 1/4x 20 stud on the speedster handle is too short and so far, I have not been able to remove it and replace it with one long enough to go through the thick fiberglass.  I have no idea how one puts the flat washer, lock washer and nut, on that one lower stud, on the hood handle.  Must require magic ?
