Bonding fiberglass to metal

Bought a fiberglass tonneau. Need to fabricate metal flanges and bond these flanges to tonneau. Will use current soft top attachment points. What is the best adhesive to bond metal flanges to fiberglass tonneau? Thanks.

Hi Phil,

I've done similar projects on fishing boats. Most folks are comfortable with brand name epoxies for jobs like you describe. 3M Panel Bond or SEM structural epoxy are 2 brands I am familiar with. As usual, prep is the key to success in projects like this. Sand both surfaces to be bonded with 24-36 grit paper, keep parts very clean, and follow manufacturer's instructions. Auto body supply shops or fiberglass shops near you should have major brand supplies available. Best of luck and please let us know how your project comes out.
