There seems to be a bit of interest in these straps ..... I have looked at all of them on the internet and think they are made poorly and cheaply. I am a retired saddlemaker and I can make these with real quality if you can find me the end fasteners. I can get the buckles but don't know where I can get the end fasteners. Get me those and I will be glad to make members of this Forum some really nice straps for little moneyF
Dusty,

First, Is that your excalibur sitting in the Garage. Do you know what it's worth! I have not seen one in 20 years. I heard that the guy who made it designed all of the cars on Miami Vise. He made a limited number of those cars, and he would pay BIG BIG Mula for it.

I am wow'd by your offer. Hand made straps, How could I resist that.

I will start looking for the fasteners. Do you recommend any particular type of leather / harware for this? It seems to me that dyed leather might might bleed if it is wet.

Do you know of a website or the name of a company that deals in fine leather? I will start researching it.

Thanks for the help, please let me know what you'd charge for your efforts. I can guarentee that this will be a HUGE hit on speedsterowners.com.
Mel, Todd,
I can't begin to figure a price until I know how much leather, and hardware, etc. I am looking into it. I spoke with Carey Hines and he is bringing some samples with him to the Carlisle show so I can get measurements. As to the leather ... I only work with Hermann Oak Leather (St Louis, MO). It is the best and I have used their leather for 40 years. Dye? It should not bleed if it is on good leather and treated right. Find me the hardware and details and I guarantee better quality and VERY reasonable cost to the Forum members. (Remember, I am retired and don't want to get TOO busy!!)

About the Excalibur ... Yep, I have had it for 7 years and it has a new ZZ4, 355hp, motor. I have a modest collection (Ferrari, Auburn speedster, Corvette, 911, 356 & 550) but my absolute favorite is the Excal. It is my second one and I have always loved them. Check out more pics on the Profile.

By the way, I will be in Paso Robles and maybe we can figure out the leather straps there.
Happy Trails,
Dusty
