Has anyone changed tranny mounts and found the bowden tube started to make a creeking noise when you step on the clutch? what should I do?

after replacing the tranny mounts on my metalcraft speedster, everything is running better than ever, except that when i press on the clutch pedal i get a creaking noise from the clutch cable in the bowden tube. (clutch engages fine)
When I took the bowden tube bracket off the tranny and pulled the bowden tube out of the steel tube it fits onto and then stepped on the clutch i got no noise. I inspected the cable and couldn't see any wear on it, and i put some lithium grease in there while i had it apart. still creaks.

The new tranny mounts probably hold the tranny in a slightly different position than the old ones because the new ones are snazzy yellow ones from cip, but the difference can't be that much.

On the other hand the old mounts were broken so that might be the reason i never heard this creaking before.

I can't pull the bowden tube out and inspect it b/c the metalcraft has clutch cable spliced after the bowden tube is put on there and i would have to cut the cable to get the bowden tube off.

Even if you can't help me directly can you recommend an aircooled guru i can email?
Thanks!

When I last changed a clutch cable, I carefully re-aligned the exit of the Bowden tube so as to be centered on the cable. My original cable had broken at the exit of the Bowden tube - a definite indication of potential future trouble. To achieve a better alignment, I slightly decreased the suggested "drop" in the Bowden tube. Never had any problems since. No cable vibration, etc.

I can't say this will work in your case, but it is an easy and reversable change to see if it has any effect.
Since you can't shotgun it and put a new Bowden tube in there, somehow find a way to force grease into one end of the tube until it comes out the other end (it should take a lot of grease).

Then smear a little grease around the end that fits into the chassis/frame, just to be safe.

Try to shot some grease into the metal tube that the Bowden tube fits into on the frame, too - as much as you can get in there.

Put it all back together.

Hopefully, that'll cure it.
