A kid playing with his cell phone tapped me in the rear this past Friday. The body shop wants to reskin and paint the entire rear bumper. The damage is super minor, I was stopped at a light and he was going less than 5 miles an hour. The only real damage is to the left rear bumper guard. You can see the indent from the other cars license plate frame. I was thinking of just getting a new bumper guard and have it color matched. This way there is less paint that needs to be done and blended to match. What do you guys think? This is the piece I for sure need to replace. Thanks.

Marty fund a small shop that will do what you want instead of the.... " One part number replacement " .
My body guy here in PA. has the talent to repair bumper covers he uses heat and gently then from the back side, reforms it with a plastic hammer then a final skim coat, primer and paint with a flex agent.
If you want you can send me that small bumper pc along with the year paint code and vin for an exact match by my paint guy. ~Alan
How the who hit you reacts has a HUGE impact on how you feel about the accident. Jumping out, apologizing, holding the insurance card "I can't believe I hit a Porsche" is way better than the usual attitude you get "your lights are bright enough, I didn't see you, you shouldn't have stopped there, etc..."

Bumpers can be repaired and even just spotted in. Modern body shops want to replace the whole skin because they can make more money at it. Use that estimate, then find someone who can actually fix it and have it done. Got to use good materials as the bumper skin is flexible. We fix these all the time.
