Is there a spec sheet for the rollcage/bar that is used on these race cars that is sanctioned by SCCA? Or are they one off custom built like AA-Ardvarks in Florida? I like this one and if there are dimensions and specs for it I would bend and weld one up for my pan based speedster which is similar to the pan based 356.

Yes or no?
Thanks for any input.
Unless the rules have changed in the last couple of years, there is no SCCA class for replicas or kit cars as they call them. Lots of plans and specs available for 4-6 point cages, with tubing and weld specs for different classes, but no class to run in. You can see why it would be tough, since SCCA, like NASCAR, has a multitude of rules and regs on sizes of everything, and our cars are very different, with lots of variation.

Doubt if anything will change in the short term. Maybe someone has more current info.

Well, yes and no.....they created a class for Lotus 7 replicas and Caterhams, but that was a bit after I got out of Autocrossing (and some people still argue that a home-built Caterham is NOT a kit!).

Yup, that's why I got out of building autocross dunebuggies back in the '70's. I showed up at a number of SCCA autocross event back in '69-'70 with a couple of different buggies, the last a very-well-set-up Deserter running a Corvair engine. Regularly (and easily) took fastest time of the day until they decided that the car really didn't fit into any of their "categories" and put me into the newly created "Kit Car" class, where I ran only against myself. Still took FTD, but who cared?

Sold the buggies, went to college, got married and built a '46 Coupe Street Rod instead.
SVRA has allowed the 904 to run in Vintage classes at Road America and Road Atlanta ( and a few others). Said is was the same materials as the original 904 and has Porsche drive train. I have seen the Spyder allowed into some events too, but seems much less common. Never seen a Speedster replica in the vintage races that I can recall.
We do have several clients that do SCCA Solo events in 356, 550 and 904. And some areas have let all of our replicas run in PCA DE events... for that it seems liek the region. I have also had clients denied for various reasons, including the manor in which the windshield is attached to the cowl. The kicker in that case was that they had already approved one of our 550s to run the same event, and it is 100% identical in windshield and attachment... who knows.

LOVE that car from Fantasy Junction. I saw it and a beige with red front darts many years ago and that is what inspired the paint scheme of my personal car.
