Bra re-visited

I seem to not find as easy way into any archives--should they exist--but I know this subject was covered B4. I thought I would always want Silver Streak to well---streak bra-less until on a 300 RT to Portland I collected a good size chip. Now I want to get a bra. Anybody buy one they liked?

Ralph, I am about to try a Colgan. I'll let you know. I had a VS one that I bought with my VS, but it had the issues many of them do... flapping! Maybe I just never got it on right...

There is a nose/hood bra combo on-bay now, used. It looked sortofkinda not-quite it. But. But, I looked at it and thought about the possibility of snatching it up and taking it, with my IM when I get it home, and have a local shop make one that really fits from the pattern. I dunno, I've got too many things going on now. You might look at it though. I don't have the E-bay #. It was under an open "Porsche 356" search.

If you find something let me know, please. I like the idea of an easy-on easy-off road tripper in a light weight tight fit, and a nice soft non abrasive backing. I'll be watching this thread. Hope you get some responses that lead to something worthwhile.

Ralph, I see Mt. St. Helens just let off a big ash plume. Maybe what you NW guys need is a car suit like a diver's wet suit, instead of a bra!

I saw some of this clear vinyl stuff however while I think it is good for road rash it won't block rock chips. WHat does Henry think?

Ralph, Henry is fitting a Colgan (I think) to mine. I'll tell you more about it on the 22d. Yes, I think HR may be driving the Blue Speedster down, and I'll hook up with Scott. Where are you in relation to I-5? We can get it set up. I think there may be a nice caravan by the time we are in N. Cali. I need to see if Brooks is coimng. Mine? It's Ruby Red.

I have a brand new Bra from Kirk, I keep it in the car but have never used it, I will bring it to Knotts, if anyone is interested, make me an offer I can't refuse.......

Vince: re your bra---who is Kirk? I would love to get one b4 the trip so I do not collect any more dings. It may be small but it is not neccessary.

Kirk was very helpful and so I ordered a bra from him. Colgan makes a nice Fiber??---having a senior moment here however it has cutouts for vertical bumper guards which most of us do not have. FOr $50 I figure I cant go wrong. The Colgan was $125 whicha was still reasonable for the right car. I had one on my SC and it did the job.

I've checked Colgan's website. Question, do they come in colors? All I saw was black.

I believe Colgan offers their bras in a faux carbon fiber as well as black.

I see that duct tape is available in choice of matching colors. Discard it at destination. Re-apply for trip home. Minimal on-board storage requirement.

The VS bra did not fit my IM although the stock 356 A from Colgan does. The fender well radius is different on the VS than on the IM and on stock (original if you like) Porsches.
I ordered my Colgan carbon fiber for $129 including shipping and rush charge so it gets here in time for the long trek to Knotts.

Got mine from Autoanything.com, made by Colgan. The only thing they would not do is cut holes for fogs, which I got a upholstry guy to do. $100 for the bra, and extra $40 for the fog hole customizing.

That said, it will not protect against shrapnal (sp?) coming at you at 60 mph!

I'm seriously thinking of having a plexiglass shield made, width of the front bumper and 1 1/2' high, bolted on via brackets under the bumper.

Price of living in LA...

I had one of those plexiglass shields for my SC. The abrasions, vibration and ugliness resulted in it going into the re-cylcling. COuld not sell it on ebay.
