Brake fluid resevoir

Sorry for this "duh" question, but where is the brake fluid resevoir on a VS. I was performing some basic checks and could not locate it. The only thing I can think of is that it is behind the carpeting (kit) on the firewall, but don't want to disturb the glue if that's not the right place. Thanks.

John, mine is in the front trunk on the drivers side about a foot from the back.

Its on the driver side next to the clip that secures the prop rod for the hood.

UNLESS???? It's a earler car. Then it will be right at the master cylinder, and it will have only, the single line type cylinder.

Barry, the car is built on a 1968 chassis. What do you mean by "earlier" vs. later?

if you've not located it yet, jack up the drivers side and remove the front wheel. The master cylinder will be attached to the fire wall. The reservoir will be above that, either directly attached if it is an earlier type, or with 2 hoses the later type. The later type allows for a remote positioning of the res. usually located under the front hood beside the gastank. Easier to get to and is a dual circuit (one circuit feeds the front wheels and the other the rear).
