I have no brake lights, I checked fuses there all good. I realize the switch ties into master cylinder. My question is as your facing the back on the car wich is the brake light the two inner lights or two outer lights. The bulbs look good on both sides, I want to determine if i have power before i start looking at master cylinder switch, since the master cyclinder does look like it's easily accessable, or is it, looks like you have to take of tire? it's a 2006 VS car.

Thanks, Art

Its much easier to change the switch with the tire off the car, but not mandatory if you are a dwarf midget with double jointed wrists....  Do the turn signals work???   If they do, swap bulbs as a quickie check....    The switch swap is easy if required. Just have everything ready to go, ( sealer on switch threads ) and do not allow the opening for the switch to remain "open" for any length of time....   Most times you don't even have to bleed the brakes when done...  If you are going to replace one switch, replace both with German parts or you may be doing this again.....

Switches have either 2 (two) prongs, or three prongs .....   Most builders don't use the third prong for its intended purpose. ( Brake system failure in the master cylinder. ) I think the three prong units were used from about 1969 on....  As to which lights are the brake lights, it depends on who wired it...

A master cylinder with 2 switches is a '69 or later unit....  You can use a single switch here as only one is actually required.....

NAPA is a good source for this part, but ask for the more expensive part. ( They sell Chinese stuff too. )  Look for Bosch or Eschlin brand names...
