The Speedster that I'm finishing is based on a '69 VW. It has drums in the rear, and Ghia discs in front. I've put in a new bug master cylinder, and am wondering if I need a pressure relief device for the front to prevent the calipers from dragging on the disc after the pedal is released. If so, specifically what is the relief device?

Nope! Well . . . maybe.

What year master cylinder did you get? The ones for the later Beetles, and all of the repro versions (The ones without the boss on top for the "brake check" "B" button on the dash.)currently available work just fine with the drum/disc combination.

Otherwise, if you're super cautious, just grab up a Ghia specific master for a 1971.
