VS commonly uses AC industries disc kits ( sold by SoCal Imports). They did on my 2013 build.
Not knowing what you have installed, attached you will find AC Ind. front disc samples of what the caliper should look like...with anti rattle clips installed, hope this helps you in your diagnostic process ..and facilitates identifying potentially missing parts?
For 4 lug disc kits,AC Ind. uses Ghia pads and disc kit parts.. Your caliper should look like this... Note the retaining clips installed on each side, holding down/adding pressure to the pads.
The pads/anti rattle clips/pins/ look like this... The rectangular plate fits between the caliper and the pad, and the anti-rattle clip ( the wire looking things) places pressure on the pad to keep it from rattling.
Wide 5 setups use1980 VW rabbit pads.. The anti-rattle clips are the copper wire looking things.
Clips pictured on far right. Two should be installed per caliper... At each end of the brake pads.
Note my left pad posed in the backwards position for this picture.. The metal bit of the pad should be against the caliper wall.
The clips pictured bellow are more modern, OEM replacements... Which now also come with the AC Ind kits...
You should be able to sneak a peek with a flashlight and a mirror. No need to remove the tires. If the clips are missing it will be immediately obvious.
Hope this helps... Good luck..
Call VS. they will take care of you. May I suggest you take picture of your set up before calling him....see if anything is visibly missing. ( like the anti- rattle clips)... A picture of your caliper would help in the conversation .... Picture is worth 1000 words.
Also, if the calipers have the AC Industries markings, you could call the SoCal guys... They are easy to work with and have a technical help desk to help answers Qs and troubleshoot their AC Industries products.
