They do work but it's much less expensive to buy a (1) man bleeder bottle from Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/one-man-brake-bleeder-kit-37201.html

With this device, you simply put about 1/2 inch of brake fluid into the jar, open up the bleeder screw then slowly press your pedal. As the air exits the system, it bubbles through the fluid in the jar and when you release the pedal, the fluid in the jar prevents air from entering the system. I've used thes method for years and the bottle only costs $6.00
Larry's half right .. Buy a good bleader that can be preasurerised by a air compresser

YOu just put in a quart of fluid in a catch can above the reservior and blead the lines until they are pure fluid. It comes with a caputure jug as well a clean setup

AMD use to make a nice one, like i have. I haven't seen one like it in years.

Its amasing how dum the industry is getting the next genration is lost on the basics of good mechanicing You have hunt hard to find a decent floor jack and stands these days. All I see out their is junk.
