so in while trying to sort my rear brake light issues I look at the drivers side rear drum an notice that it is wet at the bottom. perhaps a leaky wheel cylinder has caued a drop in pressure and hence the brake light issue. well, I pull the drum off and see that the issue is clearly the rear wheel bearing seal. take of the four bolts on the cover and slide it off and yes I see issues. First off, the envemo has the old type swing axel rear...that said I do not see a rear wheel bearing spacer...followed by no little shaft o ring...or metal stopper. Hmmm? so the question to all you swing axel owners is...spacer or no spacer? I have heard that some vw model incorporate the spacer into the bearing cover/housing. has anyone heard this too? this car was based on a VW brazilia...the pan is very similiar to a karmann ghia but who knows what they used from the parts bin??
