I was inspired by another post to get out there and clean up my shop  , so I found a few pretty nifty things that are now going to the Carlisle raffle:

- A double photo (professionally done and framed) of James Dean in both his Speedster and Spyder.

-  A VW engine caddy - It's on wheels.  You sit your engine on it when in the shop (the sump fits into it) and you can wheel the engine around to where you want it.

-  And a never-been-used, car undercarriage washer which attaches to your garden hose and sprays UP under the car after you've been out on those dusty back roads....Sort of a portable car Bidet, for you international folks.  I think the maker calls them "Auto-Spritzer" or maybe something more French, I dunno.

So get out there and clean off those shop shelves!  Drag stuff out of that Attic (or your unused-dining-room-become-car-part-storage-space).  The Carlisle Raffle is the main way that we finance this Hoe Down from year to year!  It's easy, it's painless and you may end up leaving with something that you can really use - Or not, but at least you trade your stuff for someone else's, right?

Thanks for the heads-up Gordon.  Yes the raffle is an important part of the weekend in that it supports the costs of running the event - table and chair rentals for the tent,  trophies, awards dinner drawing items, name tags, etc.  My explanation of items to donate is new parts, auto-related products, artwork, memorabilia, etc. Please try to bring items you think someone would like to win in the raffle and avoid items such as old sparkplugs, used stuff, etc.

The raffle is held Saturday evening in the host hotel hospitality suite following the awards dinner and tickets will be sold for $5 per person.

Kathy, while peering about my "Cueva del Hombre", said, "You've got too much junk in here.  Get rid of some of the chotchkies and it'll look nicer."

Well, OK.......So I'll be offering up to the Carlisle raffle, one 2009 "Speedsters Meet Spyders" commemorative, hand-thrown, ceramic Beer Mug.   This is one of the mugs (a mini-stein, really) that Danny Piperato offered that year, never been used and never been spit in - PRISTENE SHAPE, in other words (well....Maybe a little dust on it.)

If you weren't there in 2009, this is a true piece of SOC History, even more so than a framed ticket to a Trump rally!!    I only offer it because I have two and I am NOT a "two-fisted drinker".  Hell.....Sometimes I have trouble with even ONE fist!

Come to Carlisle.  Buy a Raffle ticket.  You, too, could own a piece of SOC History!

Family is keeping me away. I saw Carey in Bremen last week and he graciously agreed to bring my stuff to the raffle; a few books (Weber carb manuals that I no longer need).

I was looking forward to showing off water-cooled Natalie with her black aluminum wide-fives, trick signal mirrors, and new gauges. Alas, not this year.

I'm adding some black Pegusi per Stan's direction (probably this week).

Have a great time!

Among other things I'm bringing two envelopes - each with $25 cash in them - then you can buy your own Speedster/Spyder stuff.

Now understand, you don't necessarily have to bring something to donate worth that much but I just haven't had time to shop!

Also bringing  a set of wind wings, sun visors and a folding foot rest donated by west coast's "Aircooled" Bruce Williams.

Kathy and I limped into the Beaufort house on 6 cylinders on my old truck's V8 one year.  Two fried coil-packs.  Awful trip down, but what'chagonnado?

Unloaded the Speedster (in a downpour) and headed to the grocery store for needed stuff.  We found that the Speedster's windshield wipers work pretty well, and the limit was six bags of groceries and a 4-pack of wine and us, leaving just enough room to reach for the windshield inside defogger pad.
