Even with no doors or wheels, it is one pretty car.
My God! It CAN be done in 40 hours.

Surely you jest !
Stop calling him Shirley.
Well Shirley he might put some builders to shame... just kidding.
Y'all need to be checking them thar bat-trees in youz healing aids.
Can you give some pict for context
Ray is that pic better?
Ooo that looks good are you already at the fasten all the body to the pan stage
Ray, i figured it was as good of a time as any to get them drilled and tapped. Squared it up on the rotors so now i can finish the steel firewall and order the cage. After that i will pick it up as far as i can and use SEM weldbond or something similar down the sills for sealing and a little extra hold.
Well put enough of them and get a good pad so that you don't get any squeaks from the body when the suspension has to work hard over a bumpy road.
One last thing. As most people build on a pan and have less space for feet and seats I wonder if this would be your chance to make sure you have more room for better seats and bigger footwell.
I mean that would be a consideration as it would give y0ou more choices.
Ray, i sat in it today and the throttle pedal is a little tight but not bad. Setting flat on the floor i have about 8in of head room so i may not have to add amy drop to the floor.
The seats i am thinking of making will be really low even with sliders
Brock:
You might talk to Stan. He has a long torso and, if I recall, did some fiddling with his seats so his head didn't punch through the roof.
Bob, at this point i really don't think it will be much of a problem. The seats i have in mind to build will be REALLY low even with sliders.
It would be nice if your planning long trips to have a longer seat or recaro with headrests .... just saying
I mean close to the floor although they will be low back also.
Something familiar but different, maybe removable headrests..........

Dropping the floor has zero downside. If the seats are too low, getting them up with spacers is no problem. Getting them down if they're too high means either spending some major money or making some major compromise.

I make the drive to the Outer Banks from our home up here once a year in more traditional Speedster seats with no issues whatsoever. Nicely padded speedster seats are quite comfortable...
Well, I have had roadster seats but when I drove 12 hours one day I really appreciated the head rest and the comforts of my Recaro seats my body was not suffering or tired from sitting. Just saying.
As to the seat position being cut lower in a Pan setup or not, I can't really comment as I have not been in a VW pan for a long time but while your at it, gee that is a comment that goes a long way when your building,..
Ok one last seat post....sitting flat on the floor with a straight up posture i have 5 or 6 in to the roof. 8in if i slouch...i nearly eye level with the top of the window opening so i cant go much higher.
Ok a seat nearly flat on the floor and a 10deg layback should give all the head room i need.

Brock I feel that the vision is best if your eyesight is somewhere in the top half of the screen above the mmid line but if your head is way above the windshield top due to your torso being long ...well you might not like the view but then again you might not need a visor
I take that back, I just came back from doing 120 miles or 200km and with my Recaro's I sit with my eyes dead middle of the windshield in my roadster and it gives me great vision top and lower of the road. Anyway, it's your car Brock....
@Brock B What is the wheelbase for the pan after it has been cut? Is is 73inch center to center of the wheel. Just wondering @Alan Merklin if an IRS is being used.
CMC and FF kits are 83.5 "wheelbase
Yes it is a IRS pan...or whats left of it is anyway.
If you guys had a flat floor on your speedsters then yes you would be above the top of the windshield, i dont think so on this coupe.
Anyway im NOT cutting the floor till i have get my seat made to trial fit / sit.........
Good Idea, you have to try everything before finishing anything on a build.
Not much to report BUT i just got what may be the ONLY Porsche part to go on the car....and they didn't even make it themselves! 😂

Brock are you going to put a top bar across the dash area between the door post as found in the kitman and other builders to hold the steering wheel and firm up the frame?
Ray yes but it will be part of the cage, most likely i will put it where it will also serve as the column mount.
Ok i know what i think but i know at this point im not sure......what one is the bonnet and what one is engine lid???????

Looks like a hockey stick to a canadian, I honestly cannot say but they do not look like rear engine lid hinges from an IM.
Ok i was right the c shaped one is bonnet. Im not going to use the engine lid ones.
Thanks guys!
